I would throw them away after five years or so. I was running the same set of snows for nine years and by then, they were SO hard, the truck would fishtail on damp roads.

And sandbags in bulk are 50 cents for the 75# capacity, and sand/gravel is 14/ton at the quarry. So $7/1000 lbs or 70 cents per 100 pounds.

And most quarries will have a pile where you can hand load or fill bags, or they will load with a wheel loader. I got great traction the other day with 1/2 ton of chunk coal for the shop stove.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
When I was in "the north" I had bags of sand and a couple bags of salt in the bed all winter. I could spread the salt ice issues, I never had to use it though. Most guys did change over to a set of cheep steel rims and snow tires. I ran stock aluminum rims a BFG AT's and tryed to keep the road salt off them best as I could. All worked well.

I have always run 1 set of wheels & tires year round up here in NH...

With the wheels being Aluiminum means more care BUT then again that also attributes to why my '02 looks like it does.....That $5-10 every week or 2 pays off in little to no rust ....

My Geo Tracker At's pulled me through a few NH winters with nothing BUT that little "sand box" in the bed....only adjustment for winter was 28 psi instead of 32..;)

I am VERY HAPPY :D with these Grabber AT2's....and once Toyota and I put my spare back in place :p My "sand box" will go back over the drive wheels....day trips to go sno-shoeing will have a little extra fun added now !!!

Lol you guys are funny I'm not saying go take sandbags that are blocking runoff into road construction....I'm sure they really missed the sandbags I took that were holding up a telephone pole, or wait they weren't and since I drive by there relatively often there is still a pile of excess bags! And you are correct I paid for all that road construction with the butt load of taxes I pay! Also for the genius that says they cost so much to ship to the site you must not have a clue about construction because they ship the bags and fill them on site with dirt already excavated.
