Any link to what you used? I couldn't find anything at my local Home Depot.

In a pinch you could put a 31" spare on the front (don't use 4x4). So if you catch a flat in the rear, you'd have to move a good wheel from front to back, and then install 31" spare on front

I bought it on Amazon, its probably somewhere around 1/8 or 3/16 thick, works really well on the spare tire but I had actually bought it for other projects.

Out of interest, if you are worried about protecting the wheel surface, why wouldn’t you install it face up rather than face down?

As I said before. Don't want the frame to mark the outside of the tire. Also easy access to the air valve without any added stuff.

    I stuffed a k02 275/70/17 under there. I have method con 6's
I bought a cheap rim with same offsets.
I relocated the hoist mechanism about an inch towards the rear of the truck. When flexing it was close to rear diff.
I also had my exhaust all rerouted.
