I think I am going to do this myself.. I know I can!!! :)

    You can do it!

You can follow this as a general guide, but the wiring for a 2014 won't match up with this guide unfortunately. But the link below (for a 2014) should be able to help out immensely. I haven't talked with anyone that has used the wiring info in the link below, so I don't know how accurate it is, but its probably spot on. Just make sure you test the wires with a digital multimeter (like you should be doing already) before you connect to them.

    http://readyremote.com/main.asp?action=select&yr=27069&product=Remote%20Start&make=Toyota&model=Tacoma

If you have questions, feel free to ask me here or PM me. The install isn't too bad, just tedious. Good luck!

I used the diagram from ready remote on my 2014. I did verify everything with a DMM and didn't find any inaccurate

Great thanks! I saw the dball2 bypass I think that one works but I am not completely sure.. But Im not sure which one to get because the one you use doesn't work for 2014.. Also saw the Pkall but that one goes up to 2013.. So do you know a bypass that I could use? Also I don't want to leave a key under my dash, so which one should I get?

    Thanks :)

Edit: I think it does work, the o e you got is it this one? http://www.idatalink.com/product/pr..._model_id/159/package_type/0/vehicle_id/12175

Yes, that's the one I have. The dball 2 is made by the same company that makes the viper 5704, that's why I said it might be easier to install than the idatalink. But with this thread and the attachments, the idatalink could be easier. I've never installed the dball so I'm just not sure.

If you do go with the idatalink, you have to get the firmware flashed onto it by someone with access to idatalink's system. So you'll have to go to a car audio shop that sells idatalinks and get them to do it. The place I bought my idatalink at flashed the firmware on it for free.

which one should i buy? both sellers will program the transponder with the correct firmware for me, so I will just need to follow the instructions to program the key, I guess.

Don't buy either one. This is the one I bought, and its a little cheaper than the two you picked out. Its from the same seller as your first link, so they'll program this one to your truck. This is the same one I installed in my truck.

I did this about a month ago and as he says study study study it took me about 4.5 hours to get it done, which is what a guy I asked at best but who installs these weekly said is his average... Really really wish I would have had this forum though when I installed would have saved me about 30 min great rightup also not sure if you ran into the problem of a couple of the connectors not being where the instructions said they would be

Yeah, I had trouble finding the door lock and unlock wires when I followed the wiring diagram. Instead, I just found where the wires came in from the door and used those.

Does anyone have issues with the remote not responding alot? I just got a new remote yesterday given to me by my installer, and even with this new remote every once in awhile the keys lock up (without even transmitting) and I have to hit other buttons to make it work. I'm just really annoyed by this system.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. There's an option to lock the keys on the remote so you don't accidentally hit a button. Similar to locking the keypad on a non-touchscreen cell phone. The buttons lock themselves after a certain amount of time. However, you can turn that option off. Is this what you're talking about?

    thanks

You'll be able to install all of those things.

The AUX channels are different than the "inputs" for the various sensors. The AUX channels are for the convenience things like rear defroster, automatic windows, trunk release, etc. The sensors don't use these AUX channels. They use zones. A sensor will trigger a "zone" if someone tries to break into your truck. For instance, zone 1 is the door trigger, zone 2 is the shock sensor, zone 3 could be your window break sensor, etc. So if someone breaks your window, the remote will say something like "Zone 3 - Glass Break Sensor."

I don't remember how many zones the 5704 has, but you'll be able to install as many as you want. If you install a lot of sensors, you might have to install two of the sensors on the same zone. For example, the glass break sensor and door trigger sensor could be on the same zone. It really doesn't make a difference to do it this way. You could even install all the sensors on the same zone if you wanted to. They would all still work like they're supposed to. The only difference would be on the remote. When the alarm is triggered, the remote it would say something like "Zone 1 - Door Trigger," for all the sensors.

Sorry, I don't know that. I could be wrong, but I would imagine you'd have to install a module or relay or something to do that.

For those of you that have the 5704 installed, those your alarm go off randomly? Like around 3am? Mine did this past Saturday. The 2 way remote said that my hood was open. I peaked outside my window and nothing. Went outside and still nothing. No mark on the truck, nada! Then, 10min later, it went off again. Then again 10min later. Did this for about an hour. I finally set the alarm to silent. Then on Sunday night, at the same time, it did it again. I doubt someone is trying to steal my truck because I stood outside watching my truck for about 20min and the truck went off on its own.
