Has anyone had issues with the remote start not running for the amount of time you have it set for? Also will the alarm work minus the positive brake wire?

 

I am installing my 5706 this weekend. Instead of reading through a book full of posts. Any tips or issues outside the installation Posts?

 

Yes. Read through the posts if you have any doubts. There's different ways we installed ours. Lots of troubleshooting help in there too.

Ya i know it's a bitch but it's a good idea to real the whole thread, lots of input from other's experinces and you will get a good understanding to what you're doing before you dive in.

 

Ok. Real quick where do you put the alarm module and bypass? Best location....I am at that point now.

 

Hopefully you figured it out, but mine is between the steering column and fuse box. I used a zip tie to tighten things up and avoid potential rattling.

 

Not really. Got everything working but remote start. Got 6 flashes on parking lights

 

Completed the install of my viper 5305v and

$59 dball2 databus all combo bypass module

dball2 bypass xpresskit using Riverdog's instructions as a guide in my 2006 4.0 4x4. The wiring harnesses on my viper unit were almost exactly the same save for a couple that were in different numbered locations but remained the same color(s). The dball2 bypass requires that you get the xloader2 in order to connect to your computer and program it to your specific vehicle, which was fairly easy. The bypass connects directly to the viper unit using a d2d (data2data) 4 pin harness, then a starter wire, the key sense, a ground and the tx and code wire completes the hookup of the bypass. No key required with this bypass, you put the key in the ignition, turn to on, wait till the light on the bypass turns green and its ready. You'll need to do this again if power is cut to the unit however. I got held up on the key sense wire. The reference sheet states that it is blue, there are only two wires in my harness both are striped, mine was green/black. I was able to confirm this by looking at the tacoma wiring diagram. Otherwise thanks to Riverdog for doing the leg work. Works great, snowed like an SOB that night so I was able to use it right away.

Update: range on this unit is not a mile for remote start, more like 500 to 1000ft. Antanea is at the top if windshield so not sure why the range is not further.

Ya, things got a little out of hand while testing wires

 

How long did it take to install, I spent ten hours, not including reading and researching. Trying to gauge whether I have a future in this or not. Where did you put yours, I ended up zip tying my remote start to a bracket on the upper right of the steering column. Took me an hour to find that spot. You may have answered these already, if so my bad.

 

Mine probably took about 8-10 hours over two days. I think if you are in the 10-12 hour range, it seems to be about normal for a DIY-er.

I mounted my box under the dash in a wiggle-free spot (bottom arrow) and the bypass on the bracket where the upper arrow is.
