Woot. Victory! Had to take a little break from this project but I got back to it today. It was an issue with how I wired the bypass... I used the directions for the wrong year truck.

I think I spent in the neighborhood of 12-14 hours on this. I'm sure I could do it in 8-10 if I were to do it a second time. I spent a lot of time testing wires with multimeter and my bypass blunder cost me some time.

Feels good to accomplish the install myself and know that all connections are properly made, but not sure if I'd do it again or just pay somebody.

    Hello all

Tackled this last night with a 5806v in my 2013 Tacoma TRDOR 6-speed, ran into a problem that I'm having a hard time figuring out. Hoping someone can help

I had everything all lined up, programmed the pkall without issue, and function tested the remote start a few times. At this point I had not done any sort of bypass on the clutch switch, I was just pressing the clutch start cancel switch to get the truck to turn over.

When i went to take on the clutch switch to look for a way to temporary bypass it , i added ground to one of the wires to see it that would work (at the switch on the pedal). my thought was i could just hook it up to the ground while running wire/ status(-) and I would be done with it.

I went to remote start the truck and the ignition came on, but no starter. I removed the clutch bypass I had rigged up, I tried to start my truck with the key, and same thing, it will not turn over. I checked all the ignition wires (ignition 1/2 starter 1/2, acc) and they are all functioning properly, checked all fuses, ect.. Has anyone ran into this problem before? I now have a truck in the garage with a remote start that wont start.

    Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Hey all. Thanks for the great thread. Could someone please explain what the difference is between "key side" and "car side" of the starter kill? If they're both connected to the same Green/Black wire, does it matter what "side" they're on? Couldn't they just be looped together and only one of them attached to the Green/Black wire for a cleaner install?

    Thanks!!

EDIT: Ok so I re-read all the directions and found the answer to my above question. Per the install guide posted above, the Green/Black wire needs to be cut and each half goes to a different wire of the Viper brain.

Adding on to this to anyone who has difficulty programming the Alarm/Convenience/Remote start settings... I had a lot of difficulty understanding the instructions in the Viper manual and found this Youtube video greatly helped explain the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7bbRkPKXEU

You'll still need your manual so you can see what settings are under what menu, and how many times to press each button, however.

I have a 2012 Tacoma and was planning on purchasing a 5706V. Has anyone tried this without connecting the remote start? I just want a better security system with a long range 2-way remote and dont really see the value in the remote start for me.
If so what wires can I skip? What remotes start wires are required? Can I use the factory disarm for the doors if I'm not going to bypass the key transceiver?

i had done this with a similar model viper alarm on a previous car--i believe it was the 4806 variation. i wanted the 2-way functionality, and thinner profile remote without the screen, but the remote start integration required key code programming that i didn't want to do.

you really just need constant power, key power, ground, and the door lock connections and the remote start portion just won't work.
