You might just need a full blown bed rack with basket.

Not to mention don't really want some minivan driver taking out my bike while she is screaming at her kid, checking her Facebook and fixing her get me the manager haircut.

Currently I am just using velcro straps around the tires with a piece of heavy duty velcro on the cover. For longer trips I am also using a strap all the way around the cover for safety.

I am working on a 3d printed rear tire tray that will velcro down.

    Great idea....thanks for sharing OP!

We have a popup camper and have been trying to figure out how to carry bikes when we tow. I've been throwing around the idea of getting a set of the voodoo hi rise bars, but they are pricey and probably won't get used very often.

question......when you drilled through the tonneau, is there dead space between the layers? When you tightened down the bolts, did the tonneau want to "squish" flat in those spots?

Thanks for the pics. If there are two layers you drill through, about how much dead space is between them would you say? Just trying to learn from your experience as much as I can before I go drilling holes. Lol

You only drill through one layer (yellow). The dead space is the red area. I guess you could put some washers between the aluminum bar and the plastic to fill the gap.

To the OP.....just wondering if your setup is still working out.....have you used it much? Any sagging on the tonneau from weight? Did you install your d-rings?

I have all the parts, but just havent taken the time to install yet.

My set up is working fine. Drove it down from Michigan to Missouri with no problems. No sagging to date. I did upgrade by putting a metal bar on top and bottom similar to the OP to provide some sturdiness on the rear.

I use Thule bars with a 2x4 with I u bolts to attach it to one of the bars. I then use eye bolts with a bolt going through them to hold the front forks. I will have to find some better pictures.
