18 Limited here. Came from the Toyota dealer/manufacturer with nitrogen in the tires. I understand the purpose. Great idea; used it in my airplane tires, maybe once a year a squirt of nitrogen from my AP; however how to keep it aired up down the road and years from now when needed on the road? Go to a Toyota dealer??

Tire shops offer nitrogen for a cost.

Honestly it’s a bit silly. Air is 80% nitrogen so it’s not a huge difference. It’s only really noticeable in racing with massive temps and changes.

Dry air is almost 80 percent nitrogen. I wouldn’t waste any time or money seeking nitrogen refills but YMMV.

    Yeah.
According to the Google, our atmosphere is 78% nitrogen. For Formula 1 cars, that last 22% is important. For performance vehicles with lower volume tires, maybe somewhat important, but more important would be having the skill of an F1 driver. But for a truck? Proper pressure with whatever air you can find should be just fine.

It all depends, but shop air has moisture, this contaminates the tire on the inside, this used to cause massive issues on alloys, like 90's Cadillacs.

It's still undesirable to use shop air, but the concerns of corrosion inside the rim isn't like it used to be. Most new compressors have automatic water separators reducing water content.

So to be clear, 98% nitrogen is DRY, this is better than any other inert gas inside your tires.

I literally supply Nitrogen to customers for a living, but I run air in my tires.

Much easier to find on the road. I have no intention of keeping an N2 cylinder, regulator, and hose mounted to my truck.

    Costco. Its what they use.

But it doesnt matter that much. I did like it in my solo2 car though, as it was more temp stable

Fifth Gear did a short test on nitrogen vs air. Tiff isn’t convinced. Hahah. If it’s free I’d go for it, but I’m sure as hell not going to pay money for nitrogen. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kmnZ4-EUbIk

Does anyone really think there is someone working at the Toyota dealership who bleeds all of the air out of every tire on every car they get and then fills them back up with N2?

My local Toyota dealer adds $200 to the sticker price for nitrogen. Some suckers pay for it.

In order for N2 to be worthwhile, you would need to pull a vacuum on the tire, deep vacuum, to remove the existing moisture.

I have cylinders in my van... I used it in the bike, and the Charger(low pros show the pressure fluctuations with cold swings, and sets off the tire pressure alarm).

But, again, unless a deep proper evacuation is done, it's a huge waste.

Everyone has a right to their own opinions, but mine is, nitrogen is the biggest scam in the auto industry in many years for the average driver.

Those that sell it want to keep their jobs, just like politicians, another scam.

You nitrogen in the tires guys must not go offroading? :p Or do you?

I'm not a hardcore wheeler but I air down enough times to where I don't see it practical to use expensive & inconvenient "air".
