I noticed in the rain the backup camera can get water on it, making it hard to see from it. Anyway to keep water from getting on it? I know there are certain chemicals or waxes maybe that can keep water from staying on windows. Not sure if that might be a way to keep the backup camera clear.

You could maybe try a bit of Rain-X. I usually just walk around the truck and hit it with my sleeve quick.

Yes, Rain X or something like that is what I was thinking. On Scotty Kilmer channel if I recall he mentioned some kind of regular wax or something, polish maybe, don't recall, works well too. Would be a good idea for the rear windows too. Walking around the truck to wipe it by hand came to mind too, but looking for something that will help avoid doing that.

Yes. That's what I ended up doing, but the rear camera is very useful, so looking to use it in the rain if possible.

The only ones that don’t really seem to have that problem are some of the Volkswagens. I think some have the camera hidden in the rear badge and it tilts out when you put it in reverse. Pretty clever solution if you ask me.

That's cool. Important design feature, very good if they found a way to solve this problem.

BMW does that on some models as well.

I don't know what material the lens cover is made of, but I'd be careful putting Rain-X on anything other than glass. It's kinda nasty to some other materials. It rots cotton rags through, attacks rubber seals, etc.

The backend of any thing is a low pressure area it will bring rain, snow and dirt. Other than it own personal wiper it's going to get dirty.

Putting any hydrophobic chemical on the camera lense will cause it to bbead water and makes it even worse. I can reverse when ins a little dirty, but not with a magnifyer on it

    Raptor lights. That’s it, don’t laugh... :)
Then new Jeep gladiators have a front camera that has a nozzle below it similar to windshield washers to clean it when needed. Sounds like a pretty good mod to me!

So you don't think it's good to put even a wax or polish on it? Isn't that more likely to get rid of the water droplets?

I put carpro reloaded on it...a little moisture, it would bead and hang there making it impossible to use. I dont use it on cameras anymore. As your camera is generally the lowpoint, it will continually bead at that location during wet times
