    Oh yeah that's right. The keys do have to be in the ignition. I forgot about that.. maybe I can just run a wire straight to my battery. How long do you let them run for. If be afraid it would drain my battery.

    I've got 2 100Ah batteries so I don't really have to worry about it. I'd think if you were cautious and just used the lights when needed you could get away with it pretty easily. A string of 12v leds is a low power draw - probably a half amp or so for a few feet of leds depending on the type of led.

    Where did you get those batteries? I'm going camping Friday and was thing about maybe running some led Christmas lights inside for this trip and was thinking about just using a separate battery source like you're talking about.

    Can you charge those batteries too? Just looked them up and I can find them at Wal-Mart. Those suckers aren't cheap! Haha
