Holy s. I really believe your truck will benefit from flushing out that old coolant for some new one. Coolant itself will always deteriorate and absorb some contaminants over time. It will also help with preventing headgasket leaks caused by bad coolant

I have heard that a thousand time and have never see one in 38 years in the auto repair biz. Here is a little clue Fram is the largest selling manufacture of oil filters worldwide they did not get that way from exploding oil filters. If you buy from Amazon and it's cheap money chances are it's a fake, Amazon is a reseller they don't make any thing but money. You'll buy oil of unknown origin for $1.75 a quart when brand name plain vanilla oil runs over $3.40 a quart and not use a fram filter?

I use the cheap oil from Sams club because I think the oils are all basically the same; meaning 5/30 synthetic blend from whatever brand meets the same ASI guidelines as whatever other 5/30 synthetic blend. Maybe some fancy oil somewhere for $12 bucks a quart is slightly better but all the normal stuff is basically the same: AND I'm using it in a 17 year old truck that has 260,000 miles on it. I know Fram makes millions and millions of oil filters a day and that's all the more reason to shave $.00001 off the production cost. The articles I saw about the exploding Fram oil filters were probably in the mid 1990's and published in Roadracing World with pictures and it happened several times and in fact Willow Springs BANNED Fram oil filters. I realize that was 25 years ago BUT so what why risk it. I get a factory Toyota filter from Amazon for $5.99 and its delivered to my door, and yea it could be a fake, I suppose anything could be a fake that goes for the dealer too. I would be a lot less suspicious about my Amazon bought Toyota factory oil filter being a fake at $5.99 that I would about that "fancy" oil being poured from Walmart, or Sams Club, bottles into fancier bottles with at fifteen times the price. Having said that I do use and have used Redline Watter Wetter since it used to come in pink pop rocks because it works! I am not opposed to spending cash when their is a result, we all used it in our racing motorcycles and it dropped the running temp in my old dodge 318 van 20 degrees!

Yeah, it was 25 years ago get over it. Fram is as good as any filter on the market today, and better than most. As I stated in an earlier post, I wouldn't have sold hundreds of thousands of them without issues if they weren't.

If using OEM Toyota filters, they should be genuine if below hologram in on the box.

Good point on the hologram thing. I never noticed the boxes on the oil filters even had them until I bought the filter at wally's

So new issue with my truck. It’s idling rough. Sometimes more when I shift from drive to park or into another gear. Sometimes is goes away and other times it comes back. I have changed my spark plugs, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, changed air filter, changed fuel filter, cleaned throttle body and added a bottle of Seafoam to the fuel when I fueled up. Non of these things changed the rough idle. Please help

You tried an italian tune up? Aside from that, I'd check to see if it has any pending codes.. and then take it to a mechanic for a compression test.

Could be a multitude of things honestly.

    - fuel pump (how many miles on yours?)
    - Valve clearances
    - Vacuum leaks (maybe?)
    - Defective MAF
    - Failing PCV vave

Sage advice. I have SG setup to report automatic transmission temps. Its helping me learning how to drive for efficiency.

Also, I'm using some of your X-Gauge settings for short and long fuel trims.

a side note on that, they can be copied as well. All the tech to forge a filter and box, surely a little hologram too.
-Sucks that it is like that.
Menards offers Bosch filters for about 5$ -usa made, good quality for another option

Difference being, it's extremely difficult to prove a filter and/or a filter box is counterfeit without a time consuming and expensive material analysis, however a simple scan from an inspector's wane can confirm that a hologram is counterfeit.

Rather then chase a symptom with solutions we are guessing at, I would take it to a mechanic and put a scan tool on it. It’s fine if these items are part of a routine maintenance schedule, but if I’m replacing good parts with just newer parts, I’m burning money.

Update on the truck since I've had it the past few months. The things I've done so far.
    • full synthetic 5W-30 Mobil 1 high mileage oil change
    • Toyota genuine oil filter and gasket
    • bottle of Seafoam added to fuel
    • Toyota genuine air filter
    • Toyota Genuine fuel filter
    • new spark plugs
    • new PCV
    • new battery terminals
    • greased drive shaft
    • new valve cover gasket
    • drum brakes cleaned and tightened
    • alignment
    • tire rotation + balance
    • throttle body cleaned
    • brake flush
    • new rear differential vent
    • new radiator (had crack on top) + red Toyota coolant
    • power steering flush
    • cleaned mass air flow sensor
    • tightened transmission mount (fixed the rough idle)
    • tightened belts
    • drained transmission fluid (been draining 2 quarts and adding two new every other week)
Last things i have left to do is change my rear differential gear oil and replace my rear shocks.

don't bounce it off the rev limiter, and keep up on your normal maintenance (oil changes, belts, filters, sensors, etc...).

It's not really rocket science. These are Toyotas. 200k is just getting broken in.

I wish the factory oil filters would adopt Fram's "grippy" material at the end you use to tighten and remove the filter.

Tires are 265/75R16 And the rims are eagle alloys. And no problem, if you got anymore questions feel free to ask!
