Just thought I'd share what systems you need to turn off in order to operate a snow plow on the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport.
So there are two parking sensor that need to be turned off, or your truck won't go anywhere. The brakes will lock up.
Both are parking sensors. One is a P with a safety cone icon, and the other is the Parking Support Brake that also has a safety cone icon. So to make it easy.... Just turn off the two icons with safety cones. And you will be able to operate your plow as you did on older model.

I’m genuinely curious why people would want to plow with such a small truck.

I used to have some land in Wyoming near a reservation and I had a military surplus Chevy truck (M1008) loaded up with rocks and cement for extra ballast and I still managed to completely trash the frame plowing the gravel road to my house.

What kind of plowing are people doing with a Tacoma?

The kind that either can't move much snow, or the kind that will ruin the truck in short order.

I plowed for years. Residential, commercial, and for the local township road department. Tacoma is a terrible choice for a plow vehicle, even to plow your own driveway.

    I plow with a SnowWay 22 series 2 plow.

I started out many years ago with Dodge Ram... Thing sucked gas like crazy.... And had bearings falling out, transmission slipping. Starter died... All well before 1000000 mls. Then I went to a Tacoma.... I'm on my third one this year. I plowed with the last one for eight years and never had the slightest problem... Just kept the oil fresh . In fact it was in such good shape they gave me $17.500.00 on the trade in. I live on a horse ranch where we get lots of snow. I plow a combination of paved and gravel surfaces. The Tacoma has never so much as gotten stuck in the heaviest of snows. And it's much more maneuverable than a larger truck. Quite frankly... I don't know why guys pay for all that extra gas and maintenance on a large truck when they don't have to.

Obviously you never tried it... because if your were speaking from experience you would know that statement is wrong.

I think it is totally reasonable for those things to happen before 1,000,000 miles. I doubt a Tacoma would do any better.

I’ve plowed with a superduty and wanted more weight and traction
I’ve seen small trucks and jeeps struggle

I have never questioned if you can plow with a Tacoma, I was just surprised that someone wouldn’t totally destroy it.

I’m curious what heavy snow means, and I’ve run into rocks and other things on gravel roads that warped and cracked my frame.

Look guys....hate on Tacoma's all you want.

As a stated before...I plowed with a Tacoma for 8 years and NEVER had any problems....no bent or cracked frames...no transmission problems...no traction problems. Plowed plenty deep snow over 12 inches and never got stuck ...never overheated.... nothing....just kept the oil changed.... That's it. And the truck was in great condition when I traded it in .

So say what you want....but I actually experienced it...it's not a concept...it's fact. And I will continue to plow with a Tacoma simply because I know it will do the job.

Don't wreck a brand-new truck! Get a snowblower and carry it around if needed. I carried a Honda HS-50 around the Truckee, CA (Lake Tahoe) area in my 1994 SR5 4x4 for several years. I bought the snow blower in 1982, and I still have it. It still starts on the second or third pull of the rope.

Ha....I just passed on my old Honda snow blower to my son-in-law. Got a new one with heated hand grips, and I don't have to stop and shift it all the time... I appreciate the creature comforts as I get older.

Don't worry ... I won't wreck my new truck... The last one held up just fine.

I plowed with my 88 SR-5, my 97 SR-5 V6, and my 01’ TRD OR. Never had any clutch issues, drive line, or otherwise. Beat the piss out of them all and they held up with less problems than my full size trucks had.
You NEED ballast. Use low range, plenty of pushing power (the little 22RE in the 88 struggled a bit in wet stuff)with a 6.5 or 7” blade. I could plow just about anything I attempted and was far superior for plowing in tight spaces and driveways than the full-size Ram and Chevy we used.
It’s like any tool in your possession, you have to use it correctly.

They removed the skid plate and part of the skirt on the bottom. I didn't know about homesteader plows. But I had my SnowWay plow transfered from my 2017 to 2024 and that required a different bracket for the frame.

@Leon M not that I will ever have to plow any snow around here, how about some pictures of your old Tacoma and new Tacoma with your plow setup?

Sorry I don't have any of the 2017. But my profile pic is the 2024 with plow.

Would you mind taking a pic of the plow mount they used and how they tied it in. I'm modifying my old one to fit now. I have been waiting for a bolt on one to be offered but it's looking like it won't happen before winter. Thank you.

I'd be concerned with the intercooler on any gas truck. Obviously not an issue on the 15, I can't recall seeing any turbo gas trucks with a front mounted plow, at least not an ecoboost or turbomax. I've seen lots of turbo diesels with front mounted plows I presume that aren't any issues of interference between the plow and turbo system. I belive the intercooler is mounted up high enough that a plow attachment wouldn't block that.
