Thanks for the valuable info OP!!! Just wondering, can the Techstream be used for anything else other than programming a key-fob?

BTW, You can turn off a spare fob, so the battery wont run down, and it won't be sensed by the system.

Hold down the lock button and press the unlock twice. This puts the FOB into sleep mode indicated by four short red LED flashes. Pressing any button will wake the FOB up.

Hi there, my wife recently lost the key fob. It somehow came off of the key, which is still attached to her key ring. We will need to order a replacement and program it, but does anyone know if you can deactivate the lost fob using the software?

    Thanks

With techstream, you need a 'token' to reset the security ECU to forget the old keys.

Tokens are available online.. (about $35 or so per my memory for 5 tokens)

Once the token resets the ecu, you can reassociate any old keys (and any used keys off ebay) back to the ecu.

Same process is used to use used keys on your truck. (I did it to use an ebay Lexus key card last time). Long instructions are available if desired.

Yes, you can reset all existing fobs and then reactivate existing and the new one. I also oreder a new key blade cut to the 5 digit key code from this site in the UK https://www.car-keys-online.com/product/499/toyota-emergency-key-blade-2012-6951533100.html. I received the key blade the following day after I ordered it.

I have a 2018 Tacoma; it's an SR5 and it does not have push start. Will the same key fob work all the same? I don't care if the key works I just want the keyless entry while keeping the 3rd gen key fob.

Bookmarking thread. Lost my keys riding my motorcycle to work 6-8 months ago and paid something like $400 to have a new FOB made, which was still a lot less that what Toyota wanted. Installed a cracked version of Techstream last night for a different project and will have to see if there is a workaround for the tokens. Even if there isn't I don't think the price for a legit copy is unreasonable. I am assuming the tactrix cable that comes with OVTune will work in place of ordering the Techstream cable.

Tactrix (or however you spell it) cable that comes with ovtune works fine.

For adding a new key (never used) all you need is any working techstream, cable, a working key and the new key.

For resetting an ECU (to delete a lost key or use a used key previously used on another truck) a token is required. Tokens (may be available from Toyota maybe) at several websites.

(Another option if you just want to use a used key is an ebay key virginization

    Hi all,

I have a 2017 Tacoma with Smart Key FOB. I lost one so I'm trying to program a newly purchased FOB. I have push to start. I purchased the latest SW on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/DIAGKING-Tec...I&qid=1557800196&s=automotive&sr=1-3-fkmrnull).

My problem is when I go to the smart key menu and it reads my data, there is no "Utility" button option on the side panel (see attached screenshot). I cannot program a new FOB. Any ideas?

    Appreciate any help...

My "UTILITY" button would not show up either. Turned off my antivirus and it came up. Give that a try...
If you are near the Norwalk, Ca area I can meet up and program that key for you:cheers:

I was wondering how the emergency key blade worked out from this site you ordered from. Does it look like the original oem one and work properly? Does the release button stick out a little on the side once inserted? I ask because I have an aftermarket one which sticks out slightly when inserted but emergency key has not been cut yet. So I'm thinking about ordering the same one you did. I have the key code already.

Does anyone know where a good locksmith is in the SF bay area? I was quoted $65 for the master key for tailgate, and $35 for emergency keyblade in fob. I already have keycode and this seems expensive as hell.
