Sounds like a 3rd Gen issue...

 

He is doing it all wrong. Wrap a tow strap around riding mower, attach to bucket on tractor lift and place in bed of truck.

Most of it should buff out.

 

But when does he pop the clutch?

That ramp is too long, you need a shorter one.

 

If it does not work the first time take a running start with the tractor.
