Hey all on Tacoma World, I figured I would post this for all that are wanting to relocate their trailer connector on their 2nd Gen Tacoma. This is a must if you are going to go offroading. If you don't, lets just say you'll be in trouble. I took the drivers side license plate bulb assembly out. The actual harness for the trailer plug if memory serves when unplugged is roughly 2ft long. Where it plugs in is taped up in the harness by the spare tire. Once you get the tape cut, you'll have access to unplug the connector. What you do to get it to fit where the license plate bulb was is you trim some plastic off the back of the connector. It's very little trimming. Once you do, it fits perfectly. Then, you line it up straight, mark where you need to drill holes in your bumper. Make sure when you drill the holes not to go to big because the bolts that were used to bolt the plug to the metal plate from the factory are self tapping. So, no need to get new bolts. Once you've done that, take a impact driver and carefully drive them in. Not all the way because you dont want to break the plastic on the connector. Once you get them in, finish them off by hand. And Boom. Once done, plug back in your connectors and use zipties or whatnot to tidy back up the harness. And that's it. The credit goes to @nd4spdbh He is the one that said to do this. Here is the finished product, hope this helps someone.

Not a bad idea but in my state, I can get pulled over for the having the rear plate properly illuminated.

I can see that. Some states are pretty strict. I live in Kentucky. They basically don't care about anything. They don't do emissions checks or anything like that.

As far as I remember, yes. I think what I did is I pulled the bulb out and then taped up the connector. Then tied it up
