    Hello,
I am new to this forum and need some advise. I recently purchased a used 2010 Tacoma with a 5 speed "manual" transmission and 53,000 miles on her.

My Tacoma was pre-wired for a rear camera and also for a powered rear view mirror, so I purchased a used OEM rear view mirror (from a Gen 2 tacoma) with a 3" LCD display, along with a new (supposedly OEM) camera on Ebay. The camera wire harness easily came off the dummy camera plastic sleeve that was in the tailgate, and it easily snapped in to place on the camera I purchased. The mirror does power up, however the camera does not work when I start the engine and shift into reverse. This is the 2nd OEM mirror I got on Ebay with an LCD display. I thought the 1st mirror was defective so the seller agreed to take it back and give me a refund. So I purchased another OEM mirror that came from a Gen 2 Tacoma. But since the 2nd mirror doesn't work, I suspect it's the camera that's defective. I tried to determine how to remove the wire harness from the camera but can't seem to figure out how to remove it. I looked for videos online however they don't explain how to remove the wire harness … only how to snap the harness into place on the camera.

Can anyone help me determine how to remove the harness? Also, any ideas why the camera won't work on my mirror display? I assume the camera will work with a "manual" transmission correct? I know the LCD is in the mirror because I can see it when I shine a flashlight on it, I can see the frame outline.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

I just watched a video the other day on the pop n lock install on a Tacoma and it showed step by step on how to remove everything including the camera

Thanks for the quick reply Tacoma2ndGen! That's just what I needed, however I tried that before (by pinching the plug and puling the same way and it wouldn't give. This time I used a pair of needle nosed pliers and it worked! Much appreciated!
