Thankfully i’m not familiar! Finally escaped the wrenching game a few years back

Edit: wait, battery? It’s not so bad. More the concept of having to remove the wiper cowl is stupid as hell. (Iirc?)
(For some reason my brain jumped to alternator)

He isn’t wrong for the best / perfect world scenario, but so many alternators aren’t really upgrades and you seem to be looking for a cheaper option. Assuming you have adequate gauge wire to your amp, a Cap is probably the best cheap option as it’ll let the voltage recover In the rest of the system and you can pinpoint what / where you want the excess “Capacity” to be stored and used for, where as with a battery or alternator you can’t. If your system couldn’t hit the volume you wanted, that would be a whole different ball game. But you description was just the bass. Ie spike voltage.

I heard a lot of bad things about running a cap.
What’s your set up??and how many watts are you running?

i have an Alumapro capacitor and it has always performed as intended and consistently. i had regular & predictable light dimming before i installed it, and zero after. i also replaced the battery from stock to Odyssey at that time.

i have a mild SQL setup with no rears to keep the mud out. I'm currently running 1100W on paper, 600w bridged to stereo up front and a 500/1 on the sub.
