how to remove center cap on 09 wheel

    anyone know how to remove the center plastic cap on the 09 tacoma wheel? the silver color is coming off and i want to remove them and repaint. thanks for y help. hopefully, the wheel doesn't have to come off.

    Never tried removing the cap with the wheel on. Try a plastic pry tool (like those used for interior trim).

    You'll more than likely need to remove the wheel.

    Not sure what wheel the OP has, but sometimes the lug wrench has a hard time fitting the lug nuts properly with the center cap on. I pry my center cap off before loosening the lug nuts.

    Not dumb at all. I have the OEM steel wheels, and the large center caps really make fitting the lug wrench tight in the slots.

    The OEM alloy wheel center cap may allow easier lug nut removal while still installed.

    Can confirm. Plenty of socket clearance with the cap installed.
