So the I had the dealership remove their decal from the tailgate of my new Tacoma. But when I got home I could still see a decal “shadow”. It feels smooth when I run my hand over it so I don’t think there is any adhesive left. But I can still see where the decal was enough that I can make out letters. Do I need to buff this area out? Or is there a more simple way to get rid of this? It’s a small thing that most people probably wouldn’t even see but it drives me crazy. Appreciate any ideas. Thanks

Don’t use a paint scraper or wire brush. I still laugh over that post.

Try polishing the entire tailgate. The shadowing should disappear.

The WD40 did the same as polishing would have done. It may return with a slight shadow, but eventually after being in the sun for a year or so, it will disappear. The dealer must have had the emblem on the truck in the sun for awhile.
