It blows my mind that a thread is required for a grown man to know how to remove a sticker.

I actually just peeled mine off with my fingernail. It was a good bit of effort I admit. Truck was only a couple of days old. Removed remaining adhesive with goo gone. I chucked the license plate frame in the recycle bin.

I make the dealer do it before I drive off the lot. As well as change the license plate holder to a generic one that I brought.

Tell they you expect a $5 a month fee for advertising for them. I threatened to come after them with a hammer if they put anything on my new truck.

By the way a little heat will take them off, our cop shop had to remove the decals when we decommissioned the cars took a solid day but they came off.

Brake fluid should do the job along with some scotch-brite.

I kid I kid, don't do that. Heat gun or hair dryer will do just fine.

This^^^^^^^^^^ is the only way to remove the super thin metal stickers. Few seconds of heat and the plastic razor will pop/peel the letters right off without damage. I know OP said the dealer will do it but IMO don't let them, I've had a dealer scratch up a trunk once removing the logo. And I know you could argue well make them fix it bla bla bla but why go through the trouble.

I'd ask them to swap tailgates with another truck that doesn't have the sticker.

As someone else said, it could have been worse. Some dealers actually put on a CHROME metal dealer logo!

Honestly could be worse though. Some do a badge, others' stickers are way more obnoxious. I was just in Canada, and apparently some dealers put a BANNER sticker across the back window. I dunno man, that'd be gone in a day if they went that route on me. I purchased the truck, our transaction is over. I'm not getting any money being your dealership's billboard.

That's how they do it where I got our 2 recent Toyotas and the full name was 21 characters long with none tied together. Talk about a pain to remove

Edit: It was a metal chrome sticker, definitely metal as I heard the pieces hit the ground but as thin as a sticker.

Also, don't ask the dealer to do it. Its generally not liked by dealers since this is a prevalent way for them to advertise for free. Just suck it up, then get home and do it yourself. When you go back for service, they won't even notice, remember or say anything. Remember you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!!
