I'm trying to install my icon add a leaf to my truck, was just wondering how everyone else removed their factory rear clamp so that the i can put the add on leafs. in the instructions this is what it reads :

Pending the year of your vehicle our add a leaf pack may overlap the rear factory spring pack clamp. If this is the case you will need to remove the factory spring pack clamp at this time.

Also, is it better to leave in the overload spring or remove it? I do have the 2.0 aluminum resi shocks.

Any input would be great thank you!

From what I have seen on the forum you have to cut off one of the spring clamps and then grind it smooth before install of the AAL.

you mean the clamps that keep the spring pack together? i have not done the add a leaf to mine yet but on my other trucks the add-a-leaf was much shorter than the other leafs and you didnt take the assembly apart you add the leaf to the bottom, clamp the springs, you remove the u bolts, then put the add-a-leaf at the bottom with new center pin and lower the truck and replace u bolts.

its been several years, but i dont remember unpacking the oem leafs?

    cheers.

if you have the 3 leaf back you don't have to cut the clamp only with the 4 leaf pack.
