My Leer camper shell paint does not match my truck's color( the difference is becoming clearer day by day). I called the dealer ( last year actually...) and they asked me to bring it back. They also asked me to remove the fuel door, that way, they can send it to Leer factory @Sacramento to color match, again.
Great, but how to remove the fuel door? It looks like the hinges are press fit and not bolt on/off.
    Any help is much appreciated.

hold up, your dealer needs you to send a sample of the truck? Is it some custom paint or just factory?

I think he means the leer dealer

They want a sample of his truck color so they can match the camper to it

Well, this is all stock but one of the first "orange" color ( also called as inferno red).

yeah I understand its the leer dealer, I'm just wondering why they need a piece of his truck. If its a factory color I guess I don't see why they cant pull it up and match it. Unless the inferno is like MGM and varies a bit from car to car

Pretty sure the fuel door is riveted on. You'll need to drill 'em out.

Or just send them your tailgate

does leer normally have this much trouble matching factory colors? The last leer we bought was years ago and they match a factory red perfectly at that time. Do you know if all manufactures are having problems matching factory paint?

There are variances in all vehicle factory paint colors except for black (non-metallic). Some are harder to see, but they're there, ask any paint guy at at a body shop.

Maybe send them a fender flare or tailgate would be best if the fuel door cannot be easley removed

Wait is this the same shell you took all over Alaska on that killer road-trip?

If so, I am surprised they are willing to re-paint it at this point. Cool of them to do so.

There is no damage to paint or any chip on the camper. The paint never matched and it is under 5 year warranty for paint mismatches.

Hmmm, good to know on the 5-year paint mismatch. Didn't realize that. Thanks.

Yes, but they will not cover physical damages like rock chip or scratches. Just paint fading away. My topper was always light colored as compared to rest of the truck. They knew this was coming back especially since I installed it just a month in advance of my trip to AK and there was no time for a repaint.

It's is nothing new for the manufacturer to ask for the fuel door if the paint doesn't match. ARE does the same thing, however they don't guarantee a match in the first place. Even though they have a paint code, they may not use same brand, or there are even slight variances in the batches of the paint when made.
