Look up shapewriter. It works basically the same way and is actually what I'm using to write this post from my DInc.

    lol

I was referring to the question about trying to find "Swype". Shapewriter is a 3rd party Keyboard that works very similarly to Swype. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it online. I know that they pulled out of the Android Market for some reason; however, you can still download the .apk.

That's just the file extension for an Android Install file - just click on it once you save to your SDCard and it will install. VERY EASY.

However, I'm stuggling to locate it for you right now. Let me say this, though. I really don't even like Swype/Shapewriter that much anyway. Yes, it may be fast with practice, but I feel like I'm racing each time I use it. It's like "I better move my finger as fast as possible, or I'm not taking full advantage of this Keyboard!" That's not really something I need in my life. I have enough to keep me stressed as is. The only real time I used to use it was when I was in bed next to my wife reading and writing on forums like this. It eliminated the noise and vibration of typing. However, now I just used Vlingo's keyboard that comes with their app in those situations. It works like a normal keyboard, but doesn't vibrate unless enabled.

    Anyway, I'm rambling.

if you are having problems with your 2.2 have you tried doing a factory reset? It fixed all the problems on mine and my wifes incredible.

for screen protector check out invisible shield by zagg. you can get it at best buy and have them install it for you. It's a bit more expensive than the others, like around 30 dollars, but has a lifetime warranty if you scratch it. which is pretty hard to do if you check out there site you'll see.

Enjoy your phone, we still can't put ours down after having them since end of April.

i have the zagg and i am incredibly impressed with it. if you go to their website they have videos of them taking keys, nails, and even a dremel to phones with the protector on it. not a scratch

I have the silicone one fron Verizon and love it. It's very low profile and definitely protects it. One of my favorite parts is that it is soft like most rubber covers allowing ease of taking it off and on, but it is still slick, unlike rubber which sticks when taking it out and putting it in your pocket.

Some will say that it's cheap and recommend don other, more expensive and indestructible 3rd party case. Though I'm sure they're all great cases, I have first hand knowledge of how protective this one is. Try dropping it 15-20 feet while going about 40-45 mph onto metal grating from a speeding roller coaster. That was quite the experience. Only damage sustained was 2 stuffed corners of the case. Phone was flawless!

What I want to know is how to get rid of apps on the phone that verizon insists I have but don't provide a way to uninstall.

it requires rooting phone then there are a few apps to use to do it or different roms. I use titanium back up to remove the stock bloatware. You can also do it through adb depending on how linux suave you are.

lol I figured you might get a response like that. For the meantime, just ignore the apps you don't use. This phone/computer you're carrying around will not be bogged down by these apps.

I you want to avoid them completely:
    1. Create a folder on one of your home screens
    2. Then name the folder (open the folder and press tap the title bar) something like "Apps I use"
    3. Then, just add every program that you use to the folder and skip the ones you don't.

Then, you'll never have to open the native app list. ;)
