Replacing everything worn, broken, and rusted.
This is what I resorted to. Makes sense.

I saw this some where else on here but can't remember where. There is a Lexus plug for an RX300 or something like that that will work and it has a 14mm head I believe. I called Toyota and they couldn't find it but Lexus had it in stock. It's "Lexus part number 90341-24016 SOP Plug, Straight Screw" and that is what the part number on the bag says. Now just need to find time to get back under there and do it.

Yep, that's it. Strangely enough though, even if you walk into the Toyota dealer with that part number, they can't get it for you. You have to go to the Lexus dealer to get it. At least that was my experience. But, the crush washer is a Toyota part number that you can get at either Toyota or Lexus.

yesterday I started to change the fluid in my 2010 Tacoma front differential and ran in to the same problem you had. So I looked up Tacomaworld and found your post. I read it all and it sure did help. The best part was where you said don't give up. After reading your post I got back under my tacoma and tried again and finely got the drain plug out of the front differential. I worked on it for 4 hours before I read your post. I just want to say thank you for posting it.

Mine was a pain, same thing I didn’t give up, but needed to use MAPP gas to heat it up then a chisel to make a notch and hammer it loose. The new Lexus plug was a great upgrade for the future.
