A friend at work wondered if I needed tighten it again, spread PB blaster on and try to spin it off with impact again. I started with impact but the nut only threaded off half way and now the whole bolt turns.

What's wrong with just removing the bolts and lifting it off?

Hi DaveInDenver - Yes. I want to lift it off and repair the frame with SafeT Caps, which I ordered and received. Just wondering if I am missing an undocumented trick or overlooked something.

6 bolts hold the bed to the frame and then you have to disconnect the filler neck . Done

The bed is in good shape so I would rather not put holes in it or tie it to a tree. :)

I don't understand why you'd do that. There are 6 bolts in the floor, 3 small ones that hold the filler neck, unplug the tail lamps and lift it off. If you have a buddy you two can probably lift it and walk it off. Crawl under, you'll see the fasteners.

The trouble I am having with fasteners is that the whole bolt it turning when I turn the nut. The first fastener I tried spun off quickly with impact like I wanted. Second one only came off half way before the whole bolt turned.

Happened to me as well . gotta cut the bolt heads off . I havent put my bed back on yet but I believe there are welded nuts inside the bed that broke off so the bolts cant come out

Thanks Penten. That's what it appears to be to me too and didn't want to cut off if it was unnecessary.
