    I promise you, under penalty of banishment, I'm not messing with you. My oven locks itself in the self clean cycle so you can't open the door until it's done. Not all models do that but newer ones will. It sounds like that's what yours did.

    Nope, the only think you did wrong was cut the power before the cleaning cycle was finished. Again though, eventually though use the sap will go away but if you want it gone today, you need to use a solvent. I don't think the oven will get hot enough to burn off the sap.
