Has anyone replaced the valve cover gasket on a 3rd gen tacoma 3.5? Mine are leaking and I was wondering if anyone has a tutorial and a list of parts I need to replace. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It’s going to be time consuming so take your time. Remove the air intake boot, engine cover, intake, ignition coils, try not to break the connectors for the wire harness that runs across. Maybe replace the pcv valve, grommet if it has one and the hose since you have the valve cover off and maybe change the plugs too. You’re lucky that’s the engine isn’t sideways like in the Highlander. So much more work. If you feel confident in doing it then go for it or find a reputable shop or someone that knows what they are doing. I’ve changed many and the v6 engines always give me a hard time.

Timmy The Toolman has a number of youtube videos covering valve cover replacement. I think it's mostly 1st and 2nd gen Tacomas he's done but you could check and see.

Its actually quite challenging, I hate doing them.

I cant recite much but I do remember that the cam sensor bolts actually hold the valve cover down, so you basically need to remove every single bolt on the valve cover.

It's time consuming, if you need to do spark plugs, its definitely the time to do it.

I would definitely like to try this myself. I did search for it on YouTube and only found 2nd gen videos. It's gotta be a little different though. If anyone's done it or has a write up, it would be awesome!
