    Hey, how are ya guys?

Been ages, unfortunately I wound up with a Ram 1500 due to the fact that I needed to tow more than the Taco could handle, but gotta get in someday

Taught my friend stick yesterday, actually was pretty good and changed the trajectory of his Daily from Charger/C300/AWD to something manual but still awd, hence where the Taco comes in, as "Got to be more practical but mix in some fun where I can"

Dont think he's opposed to the truck at all, his current Daily is his '17 V6 stang, and at one point he considered a 5.0 F150, so thats one the table, wants to fo some light modding and my friends and I do go off-roading, so he'd fit right in as well.

So all this said, how would you sell a Manual Taco to him?

    Thanks for taking a look,

    Rogue

See what the market is for your truck and give him a slight friends and family discount. It's cool to help out a friend, but it doesn't mean you have to give it away either.

I know better than to recommend stuff for people to buy, because when it doesn't work out I don't have to hear about it.

Insist on cash. Money lent to a friend (which is the same thing as a sale on terms) never turns out well. You either lose the money, or lose the friendship (or both).

    Or a bank check.

And this. Loaned a friend $1000 to buy a used car from my inlaws and, well, you can guess how that went. Especially ballsy that he would drink $50 a week at our league night and then tell me after watching him drop that $50 cash on the bar that he can't even give me $10.

Loaning money to a friend can be tricky. I loaned a friend $1000 due so some hard times over a year ago. The person said they would pay me back when they got their tax returns, well that came and went. Granted Covid happened and there was a loss in their family. But before I lent the money, i loaned it with the expectation of not getting it back and that made not getting paid back easier. I know eventually I will get the money back, but my mind set was to help them out with the money and it would be a bonus if I ever get it back. No bad blood at all. But I wont lend them anymore, anytime soon.

Very true, very true. Bobby Heenan once said "don't lend anything you wouldn't give".

At least I reckon in your example stuff happened, though IDK if they were at least communicating with you. I had that for a bit and then I'd get a week or 2 of $20 (which was all I wanted) but then it would stop but you bet his bar tab didn't.

Ended up in court with him and he was crying "oh I'm unemployed" to which I merely said "for the year he had a $70K paying job he still didn't pay, and he seems to still have fun at the pubs". Oh well.

I'll lend money to anyone as long as they put up 2X collateral.

I’d ask your friend what they need in a truck.
Size, towing, maneuverability, will anyone else ever be driving the truck.

Then ask your friend what they want in a truck.
WANT and NEED are 2 different things.

If your friend is likely to sell the truck sooner than later, I’d go with an Automatic.
As they are easier to sell.

Again, it really comes down to want/need.
You’d be better off helping your friend make the best choice.
(Maybe a Tacoma is not the right truck?)

Still some good advice. I don't loan money anymore. I got screwed in the past by family.
