    Hello,
I'm shipping my diff to ECGS for a locker install. They suggested a 5-gallon bucket with the gears up. But the diff sticks out about 3" and is top heavy. Any other ideas for shipping a diff?

    Thanks!

Look for a tall 5 gallon bucket. They do exist.

Technically they are a 6.5 gallon bucket

a taller bucket sounds easier than cutting a second one to flip upside down and hope it can slide in.

Plastic sheet or bag and expanding foam might be stronger to hold it as packing material as well, rather than traditional newspaper, foam, bubble wrap, etc

I'm the OP, circling back on this topic to let you know what I ended up doing. FYI, ECGS suggested shipping the diff to them in a bucket and they received it in good condition.

First, as others have pointed out, you need a 6.5 gallon bucket, not a 5-gallon bucket. This is the one I used.

Next I cut a round piece of wood that would fit in the bottom of the bucket and attached it to the bottom of the diff.

Then wrap the diff in a garbage bag, drop it in the bucket and pack the shit out of it with heavy cardboard. Put a lid on the bucket and wrap duct tape around the entire bucket to keep the lid on. If you pick it up and shake it nothing should move. Put on ECGS's label and wish it well.

    shipping independently no ECGS involved

    front diff separated the ADD
Going to see if I can put it into Home Depot extra small Heavy duty box
    In a bag
    Expanding foam where needed
Then double that into the next size up slightly bigger Small HD box

eyeballing looks like it should fit and front diff is lighter maybe 38lb vs rear diff I think is 68lb
