How To: SR Vanity Lights (via Sun Visor Swap)

What gauge wire did you use?
How much did the visors deflate the wallet?

 

I used

EFI Connection 22 Gauge BLACK Automotive TXL Wire (25 ft)

22 gauge TXL wire. Both visors were sourced from a junk yard across the country and were $160 shipped. I wasn't too happy with the condition so I reupholstered them for an extra $33.
Total I would say each one came out to be ~$110 which I am very happy about, considering a one new is ~$170 depending where you get them and that doesn't include the parts for the harness.

Yep, first time making one too! In hindsight I could have gotten away with ordering a custom R44 harness and splicing it, but I enjoyed the challenge!

I'm actually making another harness right now since I have enough spare parts for it if someone is interested.

 

I just purchased a 2022 Tacoma SR. My wife wanted a vanity mirror added on the passenger side. I found this How To and bought a visor with mirror and lights. The wire colors and pin locations are still good ! Worked like a champ! My wife is happy ! Great write up!

 

Good afternoon. Just bought a '23 (or work just bought a '23 SR). Need to add vanity mirrors. Do '22 sun visors fit the '23? Same as above, wife needs the upgrade. Thank you in advance.

 

I would imagine so. I don't think they've introduced any new sun visor part numbers. To be sure, you could have a dealer run part numbers for sun visors on a '22 VIN and '23 VIN of the same trim level.

The more important thing to watch out for on the sun visor part numbers is if its for a vehicle with sun roof or without. Thats what actually changes the shape of the visor.

Hello, i purchased the 2023 Tacoma SR. I really want to replace that sun visor but, can't find the parts on the internet.
Can I ask you where you purchase it? If someone know the link please share it! My wife really expecting of these! and my girlfriend....too....kidding

 

How about adding an LED strip?, that is if the sun visor has a mirror.

Search these part numbers on ebay, or other auto parts store. There are some online junkyards that may have them as well (LKQ, for example), but you'll likely need to go through selection menus, not just part numbers. You could also order from a toyota dealer, but usually pretty expensive ($150+).

BEFORE ORDERING, CONFIRM THE CONFIGURATION VERBAGE, not just the part #. There are many sun visor options on the tacomas (with/without mirror, with/without lights, with/without sunroof) so make sure you get the one that matches your truck and needs.

I did my wife’s side over the summer and just finished doing my side today after I couldn’t take the lack of symmetry anymore. Great instructions, super easy to follow. So dumb that Toyota didn’t put these stock in every model but oh well.

Now there’s at least 2 Tacomas in MD with this mod.

 

Thanks for the post. I used 3 foot plastic zip tye to fish wires. It worked great.
