OEM mat works great... for heavy items add D rings to the bed bolt locations.

I actually made my own unique mat/carpet for the bed.
I covered the bed with a layer of glue and then had my wife shave my back and I spread it evenly over the glue.
    It's fuckin great!

That is what I did. Super easy to trim to fit the bed. Nothing slides around now.

The OEM mat is worth it unless you are willing to spend the time and blood to cut a horse stall mat to size.

Not sure about the short bed mats but the long bed mats are not being made by Toyota anymore, at least according to the dealer I ordered mine from. It was backordered when I ordered it and a couple weeks later I got a refund and was told they are no longer available for sale. I'm going the horse mat route.

I have one of those anti-fatigue mats back there now which is fine until I get serious.

I also couldn't see paying full price for a new OEM mat, so I waited for years to get one second-hand. They really are high quality, definitely worth the price if you can find a used one. Wifey was like "why didn't you get one of these things when you bought the truck?!"

I have kept mine from my 2005 to my 2010 and now I plan on cutting it to fit my 5' box. They are defiantly well built.

** I should have read the whole thread. What they said....
You can also buy a piece of horse trailer rubber flooring and cut it to fit or see if anyone is selling some used pieces. Its what a lot of Gyms use for flooring. Just a thought

The question isn't how much does a bed mat cost. The question is how much does the stuff cost sliding around back there.

I copped a DeeZee bed mat back in 2012 for like 140-150. Its basically the same as OEM

Ive got my LB OEM mat sitting in my driveway for no other reason but I have a Cargo glide in my bed. I'm too lazy to roll it up and send it.

Leveled with Bilstein 5100 shocks, Kumho AT52 265/75 tires, Redline hood struts, R4T tailgate lock, Matt Gecko LED strips in bed and under hood, WeatherTech hood guard, OEM bed mat, Husky floor mats, Carhart seat covers, Grille replacement with Toyota letters, Sony AX6000 replacement head unit, OTT lite/mild tune, and an occasional splash of fuel additive.
Rubber mat and adjustable straight ratchet bar across back does the trick.

It's a truck. There should always be a set of straps on board. Tie it down like it's about to crash.

And then buy the damn bed mat already.
