so i have these shoes, and i love them...they are eddie van halen shoes, and this just happens to the laces....anything i can do to the laces to prevent this? is there something i can soak them in to make them stain resistant? stupid topic i know lol, but it bugs me sometimes.....

I would try the waterproofing spray. It should be flexible. Get the stuff that won't yellow, i think it is the stuff without silicone.

I would the thing starch would start to flake away.

Oh Scotch Guard is the best. I spray all my shoes with it, my back packs, purses and the interior of my cars (The truck has been done professionally so none in the truck). Mostly things that cannot be put in the washer/dryer.

Works wonders. Helps them be stain resistant and water resistant. Does not discolor and is flexible. It's meant for fabric so it's fine and won't harm anything.

alright, got new laces, cuz the originals would not wash out, soaked them in bleach and everything to no avail..... but i also bought scotch guard and sprayed the laces.... we'll see if it stops the stains!

While you are at it, just spray the shoes too. Oh might as well spray your truck seats. :)

I spray them when they are new though.
