I’m sure it’s been covered but all the pages get flooded with years of pointless reading. Almost better off finding a needle in a hay stack.

Is there any legit 6in lift for our Tacoma’s, or is 3inch with a lot of elbow grease the way to go for functionality?

Or is there a reason to stay away from 35’s?

Thanks in advance, please don’t roast a half noob. Hah

You can fit 35’s on a 3 inch lift. Just some chopping and like you said, elbow grease! You’ll need a rehear if you want 35’s and are going to be off-roading often. Our low end torque will be awful with those big ol things.

Are you going to be rubbing the crap out of your inner fender? Or is that all part of the elbow grease hah

I am running 35's on the 2.5" Icon Vehicle Dynamics suspension. I also have the Toytec 1 inch body lift and yes you have to chop the body mount a good amount. You will also rub the fenders but what I found as a good work around for trimming the fender was upgrading my front bump stops. I am now running the wheelers off road front bump stops and I don't rub the fender unless I am driving too fast and hit a dip or something

Do you off-road or is it just on the road all the time?

Of course I off road, actually now that I think about it the fenders rub a lot while off roading. I haven't done too much since I installed the bump stops but I do now remember hearing them rub way too much

There is a good thread here called 3" and 35's or something similar but unfortunately I can't find it with the search for you either. If you're not 100% on the 35's there is another pretty cool tire size out there now 285/75R17 that is the same height as some smaller 35's and just a hair narrower. Basically an inch taller than the standard 285. Actual heights seem to be coming in at 33.25 to 33.5. Anyway here is a search link done in the 3rd gen build forum if you want to see how they look. Not trying to dissuade you from the 35's as they are awesome, just pointing out something else cool that's not too well known.

Yep just trim into the fender to account for all the tire in there. It will hen inevitable for rubbing on 35’s on 3” of lift, but you can greatly decrease it by doing those small things. Also having a wheel with a good amount of negative offset will probably help. My advice, don’t get 35’s if you’re going to be off-roading. Functionality while off-roading takes a toll because you don’t have a lot of room to stuff the tire in.

I just went 35s on a 3" lift. Cab mount chop lower front fender trimming seamed to do the trick. A big part of fitting the 35s is getting the right wheels and tires.
I went with a 285/75r18 with 18x9 -12 wheel. I have run this size on several of my vehicles and think it a great size for fitting 35s with minimal lift and trimming.
    They measure about 35x11.5. IMG_0419.jpgIMG_0426.jpgIMG_0427.jpg

The amount of want to just blow all my college money on my truck to make it look like that is so tempting. One day, one day:benchpress:

Yes, haven't been out too much yet with these tires but so far only very minor rubbing on one of the drivers side flair bolts, this only has happened a couple times if I hit a dip hard while the tires are straight. I will be headed out to Moab the end of next month so that will be a good test.

Same, I already rub like a mofo (no swaybar) with CMC and trimmed fenders. Did you go with the Mcneil 2" flare? or whatever it is?

Here’s mine on 33’s and a OME HD rear Dakar Pak and 886 front coils. Everything bolted on in a few hours drive great and they clear everything fine.

I LOVE the look of 35’s but in the end 33’s are much more practical (for me)

    AE974C7F-06EE-4AAB-A9EB-7549F599C2D3.jpg
Plus i was able to get them aligned with no new UCA’s.... 33’s work just about as well and cost you much much much less.... but i do wheel with a guy with an FJ on 35’s.... they are cool.

Just something to consider. If cost and driveability isn’t an option go big. For practicality 33’s (255 85 R16’s in my case) were a smart choice.

Buddy’s FJ on 35’s (same as Gen 2)

Got to get out and test mine a bit on the 35s. I do have a bit of trimming that needs to be done in the rear and some pounding in the front. I'm not sure I will get it 100% rub free but I'm sure I can get close and at least get any contact area smooth so there is nothing for the tire to grab. I hit some flexy stuff and high speed stuff with minimal rubbing. IMG_0546.jpgIMG_0547.jpg
