My truck has thb” upgraded” JBL package but it doesn't sound as good as a family members 2015 4Runner (Trail Premium).
Maybe I should order the tweeter you linked and door speakers. I’m just not loving thr JBL. I usually have my treble at max, the mid at 60% and bass at 40%-60%

Unfortunately, the tweeters are not a direct swap for the JBL systems, according to some folks earlier in this thread. :-(

There are little tabs on the back of that small cover that you can get back into place with your fingernail, they bend out of shape easily if you try to put that cover on at the wrong angle.

Nope. Pull the pillar cover first or you’ll break clips on the speaker cover. It’s really simple. Pop the SRS badge to pull the bolts. Once loose, wiggle the pillar panel free. Then carefully pry up the speaker cover from front to back.

Gotta have just the right angle. It’ll slide easily once lined up.

Edit: OK, I know there is a joke in there.

Finally did this upgrade over the weekend with some help from my buddy Chris (aka @ToyoTacoTurner)

I was not expecting a drastic difference in sound quality at all and I was shocked what this little 5-minute mod really did.:thumbsup:

I wasn't even disappointed with the stock, but after the upgrade, I could really tell what I was lacking. Even if your fine with what you have, spend the $90 and the 5 minutes.... you won't be disappointed.

I did this and the door speakers over the weekend. I'm pretty deaf but I think they sound better. They're definitely louder at a set volume number than stock. My wife says they sound better.

The doors, though, whoo. Step three on door panel removal is "Pull frighteningly hard on the bottom." I swore I was going to break something important, I had to pull so hard. It was impressive.

Do you guys lose anything in the upper mids with this upgrade? My only concern would be the crossover point. It's likely lower with the larger paper tweeter than it would be with a dome, but I'm not sure about that.

I would like to know also.
A frequency response curve would be great. looked but couldn't find any specs.

If your a huge audiophile nothing less then a full system upgrade will do for you. The stock system is garbage for the most part anyways. I did the tweeter upgrade, I feel like it was worth it for me. It’s puting a bandage over a problem so I can live with it for awhile longer. I will eventually put a full system in with amps, subs and all that but I want to be out of warranty before I go to crazy. But like a said its good enough for me for a couple years or till a blow a speaker.
