so, after reading this, am i correct in my thinking that the Subaru tweeters up front will not work with a JBL stock system? I have a 2016 TRD Sport DCLB, Nav pkg and premium sound and tech pkg.....

If you have JBL then you are correct.

I'm not having a wow moment after throwing mine in. Are you guys playing with the settings to get the most out of them? Maybe I didn't listen to the stock ones long enough? I've only had my truck 5 days.

The stock ones sounded nice (after my ‘09) then muddled after a couple of months going back and forth between my wife’s 4Runner and the truck. The new ones sounded nice the first day, then almost too tinny, now they just sound normal. I guess I got used to them already? They did help to separate the treble from the bass.

I’ve had my truck since Dec and just changed mine out today. Haven’t had a wow moment either. Curious what people have their EQs at. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

So.... This is my first "wrench turning" mod. (I have put in a bed mat, switched out the doors in the bed for ones that lock, put on some decals). It all went according to plan, so if you are just getting started on your modding journey, this is a good one. They do sound great, but my only problem is that I switched out the knobs at the same time with these...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-option-for-radio-knobs.543100/

Now I don't know if it sounds better because of the new speakers or the new knobs...... :rimshot:

I disagree. My fiancé’s 17 T4R TRD OR doesn’t sound great at all compared to JBL. She loves driving my truck

Well, $100 and 20 minutes later, my tweeter upgrade is done. My impression? Meh...As a matter of fact, I'm wondering now if the cone tweeter covered a broader range, which may have left the midrange a bit hollow...

I'll try it out for a week or two, but did keep my old tweeters just in case...It's not the worst $100 on an upgrade I've spent, but it's certainly near the bottom of the list...YMMV...

i did mine last night, and 1st impression it is louder but sound more distorted than my stock ones! ima hold on to make a decision on sending back for some longer drives maybe play with the settings a bit.

I've had them in a few days now. I can see they were definitely better speakers just by holding them in my hand, but as far as sound, I just couldn't tell. Glad the install was easy. I imagine it would be a better spend for me to have gone with some really nice door speakers instead. I don't feel comfortable taking the door off, so I may go to a local place i know does good work and have them do that for me eventually.

The more I listen to them, the more I realize they were a worthy upgrade. Listening to songs I've heard plenty if time's before, I can make out words I hadn't before. Count me as being a skeptic, then coming around to appreciating these.

See this is what I'm afraid of. Every time I've replaced stock speakers with aftermarket, infinity, JBL, ki let etc, I lose the mid range. I hate that. I'm not trying to add a subwoofer so wanna keep decent mids and lows

I find myself in your situation also.
I am an audiophile and I think the sound in the truck is really good for stock.
Having said that I just recieved my tweeters today and look forward to getting them in. I also have a couple amps and a sub to put in the truck after I pickup some new door speakers.
