How to tell if Tacoma has been lifted?

    2017 V6 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 SR5
    I recently bought a 2017 Tacoma, and it sits much higher than my old 2012 (which I bought new). So I assume it was lifted. (Also, there are obvious after-market mods--18-inch wheels, running boards.) How can I tell the specifics re: lift? It looks like the standard leaf pack in the back, but I guess upgraded shocks? Not sure what's going on in the front. Thanks!

    Body lift. Fine for aesthetics. Won't do anything for performance. Not sure how it might affect alignment issues.

    If it were me I’d take those spacer blocks out straight away. That’s just me.

    yes it has a lift. Simple spacer lift. IMO they are the worst and give you a crap ride.

    edit: after further review don’t remove anything just keep driving it and try to enjoy it, when the time comes go with a better quality lift or go back to stock.

    Before you go removing the spacers, that has much more than just a spacer lift. The spindles are different than the stock ones, its got a drop kit to move the control arms down too. Removing just the spacers is going to make it even worse.

    Depending on what your final goals are, your going to need to get new spindles, remove the drop kit parts, get your new struts, get new rear leafs and some other things to reverse that lift.

    Block in the rear is a spacer lift. Body lift is a spacer inbetween the body mounts. where the body attaches to the frame.

    Not going to lie, I thought this was just their old simple spacer stack $200 job. That 4” kit has longer spindle and a bunch of other stuff. If it doesn’t ride like crap, just leave it be.

    Thanks, everyone! IMO, the ride is fine. And I'll really only take it off-road a handful of times a year (and nothing really aggressive at that, just remote camping spots). I'm more curious than anything. I do a tow a fairly light travel trailer with it, and there's a bit of sag, so I may be looking to get air bags for the back if possible.

Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount.     I'd be curious if add-a-leaf (AAL) would minimize the ride impact when unloaded.

    Air-bags will change the ride even when the airbag is deflated due to the way they're mounted (which stiffens the leaf pack by limiting the length of spring that moves/flexes.)

    Now that I have both (Ride-rite Airbags & Headstrong AAL) I've been tempted to remove my air-bags to see if the empty ride is less stiff than with airbags alone.

    Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
    Can’t just remove the drop kit. Not sure on the 4” but the 6” kits they cut the frame. Thus making returning to stock impossible (unless it’s not a 4x4)

    It's a 4x4 and the cv axle angles look stock, with 4" lift it's gotta have a drop bracket installed. So yeah going back to stock won't be easy.

    definitely drop bracket. If you look at the picture with the CV angle, behind the CV are 2 alignment cams. Or one and a bolt
