If you can get on some wet grass pointed uphill you would feel it kick in and then see the tracks. You could also do it on gravel, but the grass is going to be easier on your truck.

    VIDEO!

finally got around to testing the mechanical limited slip while one side was up. when i rotate the tire by hand the other tire rotates the opposite way instead of the same way. not good. you can see it trying to work halfway through the video when i applied some brake. so my guess is... the limited slip is working, but not very well. i have a trip coming with lots of dirt driving in death valley and trying to decide if i wanna add a truetrac to this thing or hold off since i'm halfway shopping for a 1st gen 4x4 tundra and not sure i'm going to keep this thing.

I ended up going with East Coast Gear Supply and installing a Detroit Truetrac and regear drop in setup! Just completed an easy/moderate 20mile trail last week and didn't feel a single wheel slip. As long as you keep your tires planted this is a great setup (or use ebrake to act as a locker, hopefully) Gives me a lot more confidence to take my truck out in the ideal conditions around Southern California. Also my first time testing out the 255/80/17 toyos and they were great
