Bought one of those like in your photo and modded the bolts to work with the track system. Was getting ready to take a trip this weekend with 2 yaks and after looking at it decided I'm too old to lift my yak that high. Ordered a bed extender off Amazon for $60. Don't like the idea of the yaks sticking out so far but they will be out of the wind and easy to load.

Anyone looking for a ladder rack ready to go on a Taco... I'm in western Wisconsin.

Those T-Bone racks look like excellent solutions.

Super clearance due to the radius.

So I have now been looking at a Prinsu rack vs factory OEM. I don't see anywhere that says if Prinsu is compatible with Thule, Yakima or anything attachments, specifically the kayak attachments for either brand. Or is the Prinsu a strap it down where ever you can find space and latches type of a rack? I don't want to carry them in the bed since generally, that will be full of camping gear.

You'll be totally fine. I run my 12' kayak in a short bed with no extended and have zero issues.

Roof rack which is kinda a PITA, best bet and ease of use a trailer.

My Dagger Element 10 in a short bed. Couldn’t be easier. There’s a tie down just behind the cockpit. I hook a bungee to that going to the factory bed tie downs on each side. AD915A13-D3F8-490B-91D4-69508FEF32C9.jpg

Here's my set-up. Worked great on my trip from Texas to Colorado and back.

Bungies are terrible tie down solution for kayaks. Please don't do this. I've seen many kayaks ruined and damage to owner's and other vehicles when they give way or stretch.

The roof rack is just the oem Tacoma rack. They can be purchased for around $300. If your lucky your local Toyota dealer will have them in stock. The rack itself doesn’t support much weight, only around 100lbs. The crossbars come with it and fold to the side when you dont need them. Rhino rack has a pretty awesome set up. They sell a track that goes up top. Sits low so you don’t see it and when you need crossbars the foot and bar snap in. Feels more secure and probably holds more weight but is more money$$$

After you get the base rack you gotta throw down some more money on a kayak holder. I use The Yakima Jaylow. I have bought most of mine from Amazon warehouse for the discount.

After spending all this money to haul a kayak I sometimes wish I would have bought the Oru folding kayaking. Super light weight. Folds up and fits in a trunk.
