I'm so glad I bought my my truck in November of 2019! I got my sales guy to take $500 off the MSRP and the $599 dealership handling fee.

This market adjustment crap is BS! Not to mention all these add ons that are worth half of what they are trying to get for them!

I wonder if we'll see the same crap once the 2024's hit the lots:notsure:

I've had some time to reflect, and you know what? Good. I hope pickup trucks spike to 60, 80, 100k or more. I hope it bubbles worse than ARM lending. Maybe it will finally hit the reset button on the market. Maybe all the suburban commuters who laid waste to the station-wagon/minivan/explorer will finally move on and render yet another vehicle segment as uncool as the cargo shorts they wear. Maybe, just maybe, the next generation of pickups will finally go back to the basic farmall utility vehicles they once were.

    Maybe.

    It won't happen.

    But I can dream.

I love my truck with a passion, minus the fact that it can't be aligned properly by anyone. In fact, if you can align it, I'll give you $500 cash.

Anyhow - the arrogance of Toyota dealers is breathtaking - and to be honest I somewhat expected it because of the popularity and reputation of their reliability.

But that said, Toyota dealerships, employees. salespeople are the biggest jerks I've ever encountered in car dealers.

They are so egotistical that, they'll gladly give you the finger because the Toyota dealer down the street is just as bad, they know you're landlocked if you're buying their truck/cars.

I have been kind of laughing though because my local dealer's lot, is EMPTY, they have nothing to sell. It's like it's catching up to them. Not to mention, they've stopped their shuttle service completely "since COVID" - the excuse I always get when I service there.

    We are basically there already?

Toyota will be selling 4th gen Tacoma’s easily in the $50’s. Plus the trail hunter, Pro, etc…

    I see 2 things.
    1. Floor liners & door sill protectors
    2. Bed lights
Unless I'm mistaken, those are added at the port, just like SET does it.

    Edit:
For example, the bed lights for my 2020 are listed in the "distributer" section, but are the OEM ones.

Screw that. No one should be paying mortgage money on a pickup. A 100k Ford limited doesn't turn heads. Nobody sees that on the road and goes damn, that's a car to take to the fancy steakhouse.

    Screenshot_20230611-154117.png

Yeah that's the stuff. That little car is fucking loaded - full leather, a 12 speaker Bose system that screams, HUD, heated steering wheel, dual climate... It hauls the mail like only a little AWD turbo can, and it's priced lower than a used 2nd gen.

That's the car to get. I mean, nobody looks twice at that car either, but at least it's fun.

But yeah, keep making the 15 year loan trucks. Sooner or later, that bubble will pop.

But a Mazda 3 can’t bring home the massive sheet of plywood I purchase once every other year! /s

I like my Tacoma. But objectively for the money, there is better out there, especially for those who don’t haul/tow/off road.

Yea I think it's basically the same thing except where there is no distributor like SET for a region, they are port installed options versus distributor installed options. That's why it appears on the Monroney like there are no distributor items added. I do think SET goes a bit more wild with their stuff and their pricing on them. For example, the bed lights sell for $70 for the part. The Burlington Monroney port installed option marks them up to $150 installed. SET is getting $319 for the same thing.

As nice as that Ford platinum is you can an XL 350 and it will ride the same. If you need SD capability and like luxury ok. The Tundra capstone that's in weird place, again if it offers the payload you need and you want luxury ok the interior looks really nice on the CS. Still don't know why you can't option a King Ranch with a vinyl floor, if you're on the ranch and like that saddle leather motif dosen't mean you still don't get your boots dirty.

I like Mazda I'd like to see Mazda build a NA market midsize that looks good and offers some utility, offroad ability, small cab, and inovation whete it makes sense like lighting.

    What's this TOYOGUARD platinum shit?
I thought all new Toyotas came with Toyota Care which gives you the 2 oil changes, 4 tire rotations and roadside assistance.
Exterior paint sealant and interior protector? So, to wax the outside and armor all the interior is $699?

I feel lucky I didn't have to deal with all this. I had zero add-ons, picked up the truck the day after it was taken off the semi it was delivered on, with 1 mile on the odometer:D
Almost everything else on this list I added on myself for 1/3rd of the price. The only thing I see that isn't a complete ripoff is the predator steps for $689. I skipped those and went straight to sliders:thumbsup:
I guess that's why they call them "stealerships"
    BASTARDS!

Toyoguard adds on to the covered services. So after the 4 free services ends at 2 years/25k miles, Toyoguard takes over for another 4 services (2 more oil changes & 4 more tire rotations). Plus the other things like towing, sealants and protectants. I actually like having Toyoguard included when I go shopping around because what you get can be worth more (roadside assistance for example).

And I liked having the stuff "bundled" to be honest. Means it's covered under the 3 year/36k warranty. Wasn't too bad, sticker was $52k before taxes and I walked out for about $15k less than that.
