Hello all. I got my fist Tacoma, and the ABS and the brake lights are always on. Im new at this forum so im not pretty sure if this has already been asked, if so I apologize.

Could you guys help me out with this. Does someone know what could it be or what can I do to turn them off?? If the ABS are not working the way they should, it is dangerous to drive like that?

Also I would like to change the transmission fluid. Which one do you recomend?

    Thank you!!!!

I dont think you can check the tranny fluid. Its one of those things the dealer normally does and its a lot harder then changing the engine oil if i remember correctly.

ABS could be a number of things. The Brake light is a likely result of the ABS light, fix the ABS light, Brake light goes out. It's on for a reason...don't just "turn it off", fix the probem.

Normal braking will not be effected overall, you just don't have any ABS.

ABS light gives off a code, get a diagnostic OBD2 connector that can access ABS codes. Code will lead you in the direction of problem. Might be a bad wheel speed senor, might be a bad control module, might be a bad ground.

Get a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) for the ABS light, First thing.

Going to need a scanner to read the code. Autozone may not have the proper programming to be able to read ABS codes.

Try going to a small mom and pop auto shop, offer the tech $10 to read the code for you. Usually the offer of some $$ is enough to put a smile on a Tech's face.

There are a lot of ABS error codes....
