I have a product called a tikit that clips into the female end of the seatbelt. It was $10. I use it on the passenger side when my dog is sitting up there. I also have the carista app and plugin that will disable the chime, but that was $40 plus the $40 subscription.

Preaching to the choir, dude. Been a paramedic for 14 years.

I wear mine. I just don't want to put one around a box full of books in the passenger seat or a 55# border collie that likes to sit up front for only 1/4 of the drive.

I use the tikit seatbelt buckle thing for the dog and remove it when I've got passengers.

Some people use their trucks for purposes that don’t really require the use of a seatbelt.

You can make this change and others with carista. You can buy it on Amazon. Also lets you change other settings.

I'm with you and many others op, use your truck off road for things at very slow speed where a seat belt is not needed. I always wear it on road, or at speed.

Pretty sure books won't trigger the chime. Last time I checked, it's not weight based. It's static electricity triggered. Easy way to test, put your phone in the seat and see if it starts dinging.

Just buy a Carista for $30 it’s pretty useful! I turned off my seatbelt chime and made the car remember my radar cruise distance after I turn cruise off and on:) you get 1 week free to play with settings. There are quite a few options for the 2018 tacos.

You can also download another app along with the Carista that allows you to use your phone as a scan gauge with the Carista plug. I like to watch digital rpms, ignition advance, and air fuel ratio:)

    Another seatbelt thread.

You can have the dealer turn the chime off. They did it for me and said it was a one time thing and would have to charge me next time if I change it again. Its a disabled option in the head unit in settings that they have access to but the driver doesnt.

I dont wear my seatbelt. Significantly more dangerous things in life than driving.

Wrote that in the middle of a night shift and probably didn't word my reply clearly. I was speaking from experience. I had a box of books set the chime off when moving stuff into a storage unit. It was super annoying. It seems to at least have a weight sensor.

I have a higher chance of injury or death from biking to work than I do driving.

I hope you don't carry passengers, and I really hope you wear a seat belt in other people's cars. How do they feel about a 150+ lb meat bag becoming a projectile and slamming in to them?

Seriously, you are not only a danger to yourself when you refuse to wear a seat belt. Don't be a knucklehead.

i always wear my seatbelt......but when i drive with my dog, he loves to hop from the passenger seat to the floor about a dozen times during a trip.....so my seatbelt sensor is going on and off constantly, gets annoying

i used the Carista app to shut mine off.
