Trying to figure out if there is a way to turn off the light in the dash cubby area underneath all the controls? About to just cover it with some 100mph tape. The glow/glare against the back window bothers the heck out of me when driving at night.

After all of these years, I just noticed it when I put a gift card in there and saw it shining back. I've done a lot to kill glare, esp with all of the chrome, so I understand. Tape is probably the easiest approach. A blob of RTV is likely next up?

If you are referring to the area where the wireless charging pad is, one less permanent solution might be to wedge a piece of L shaped Black cardboard into the area.

There is no independent control of that light. It comes on with the dash lights. Some people have colored it in with a marker to reduce glare but maintain illumination

no, that light is wired to the headlights/dash lights, I know exactly the glare you are talking about. I have a piece black gorilla duct tape over it, does the job.

See if a tint shop will give you some scraps to put over it. I used painter's tape.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Find a buddy with a vw… ask them for a small piece of their check engine light blackout tape. Trust me, they’ll have some. Place it on top of the light nd voila, problem solved.

Lol... back in the mid 2000's my stepbrother bought a used early 2000's Jetta VR4, only to find out a bit later, the previous owner put electrical tape over the CEL.

I can confirm, that shit blocks all light, and your VW and/or Audi buddies have it in stock.

Wow, of all then lights and blacked out chrome parts inside that one never hit my radar.
+1 on the tint….the shop that did mine gave me some extra, works great.

I find the shift indicator blue-D super annoying and reflects on the side window.
All of my windows are tinted, maybe they upped the wattage on that cubby led, mine’s really lwt

Another vote for tape. Tape it and forget about it. Easy peasy, ha.

I'm at 5% all around and the shift indicator really bothered me too. I ended up just unplugging it. Simple plug on the passenger side of the center console just inside the plastic. Doesn't affect any other operation.
