Had anyone installed the bed outlet on a Tacoma that did not come with it from the factory? I see used bed outlets for sale on eBay for $100 to $300. I was curious how much work it was to hook up the harness, switch and anything else.

    None Yet ... soon though!
Maybe I am missing something as I tried to do the math and prevent any fuses blowing or other damage but ...

I just ran an decent size audio amplifier and mini sound board with large woofer on the 400W (truck running) option for over an hour.

According to the backnof the Amp it said 1500 W with a 15 Amp fuse. Maybe that is what max power would be and my one speaker didn’t draw that much power. I can’t fogure it it but it worked. I was nervous but it worked.

Maybe that's peak and it never drew that much. You could probably switch the fuse out for a 7.5amp and you're in the range that'll never have issues

Does the tailgate outlet have a cut off rate or will you completely drain your battery?

Trying to dual charge an EcoFlow while driving

    Solar on roof

EcoFlow is in cab so I ran extension cord from bed outlet through sliding window

problem: 0 watts charge input detected

never used the bed outlet before. Bought truck used had a previous owner.
Can’t help but wonder if it’s a simple fix like a little fuse popped somewhere or something.

temped to buy a wall outlet tester tool, or multimeter to test and confirm it’s actually not powered

have tried button off, button on 100w, idle button on 400w

    anyone been through this?

    —-

IF I confirm power, then that could mean the EcoFlow smart charging full in 1hr tech wants to pull too much flow

I’d hope the inverter can handle it

I may have to see if there’s a way to limit and control the amount
Or if it’s just not possible
Which would be sad because EcoFlow told me you can charge with solar and wall plug at the same time…

Unless it’s needed or possible to throw out the stock inverter (probably crappy) and bolt in a better one

intended use is charge from vehicle while driving engine on, and solar at the same time, to get more watts in

I’d suggest buying a voltmeter and check the outlet. BUT… I have a small EcoFlow and I know it draws some amps.. the cord even gets pretty hot while charging. Could be that yours is pulling too many amps for the inverter. You could also just plug something small in to test the outlet, like a small lamp/radio/etc

    it’s a River 2 Pro

yep you’re right. Extension cord works. Phone charger works.
EcoFlow cable worked in a wall.

so I’m assuming no popped fuse or relay.
EvoFlow just doesn’t charge from it
Which makes me wonder if 400W AnyTime Mod would even work, or be for nothing (when they come back in stock)

I’m gonna try to open this unit in their app and see if that has any options to control charging and make it work

The 110 volts on the bed won't charge the ecoflow because it is modified sinewave . Ecoflow is finicky and only charge on pure sine wave ac current as what I've seen on some YouTube videos.

Watch this. He suggested a way around it . https://youtu.be/OHL9gbwNV-k

He has since released an updated video with a much better 'mod' to fast charging.

The DC -> AC -> DC conversion for charging a battery makes me a little sad.

Haven't done it yet but I already have cable runs in place from when I put in an aux fuse/power box in the bed. When I do finally get around to doing this will definitely add pics/notes.

The only thing I have ever done with the outlet is to power my 110v air compressor on trails when granite shards jumped up to attack the tires. It worked fire for that
