I’ve got some Baja designs S2 sport flush mounted in new bumper which came with harness that has an inline 30 amp fuse 40 amp relay and a switch on it. I’m not really wanting to run it through a switch I’d rather it just come on whenever I put the truck in reverse instead. Do I need to just cut the switch part of the harness and tap into the reverse light at the tail?

That's exactly what I did with mine. Works perfectly too.

I believe you want @daveeasa 's plug and play harness. No cutting required.

So did you completely snip off the switch or did you snip off the switch connector and use the blue wire of the switch connector to tap into reverse wire?

It's a different harness but I can't say for sure that they can be used together. My guess is that it would work by using them in series but you would have to ask Dave to be sure. Maybe send him a PM?

I would suggest a three way switch; auto, off and on. Auto coming on when in reverse

There will be times when you want them on when outside of truck, and times when you don’t want them coming on

I know I’ve cursed the truck in front of me before when there reverse spots come on every time they reverse when doing a trail ride- in daylight

Just for the heck of it I took a look at Dave's website and turns out that if you opt for the more expensive DIR harness it already comes with the ability to trigger auxillary reverse lights. I'm guessing you don't have that one.

I do not unfortunately. Should’ve bought it for future proofing when I purchased my DIR kit

I'm trying to remember, ha. I think I snipped the connector off. I know I just tapped into the reverse wire at the trailer plug though. I haven't ever had a need for a switch.

Hey guys, sorry to come to the party so late, but I got my rough country flush mount 2 inch LEDs in, and I’m going to install them in my rear bumper as you guys described above and that was my question, it came with this nice wiring harness, it came with the switch. It came with the relay And I don’t believe I need any of that. I just wanna tap my wires into my trailer harness. I’m wondering if that was OK

i highly recommend using and tapping into a 'sacrificial harness' like the curt 56584
    https://www.amazon.com/CURT-56584-Custom-Wiring-Harness/dp/B007EA6WQU.

that would be the blue wire within that harness for power, with the white wire for ground.

this is done in the high likelihood event that you either sell the truck, or screw something up, the trucks wiring remains intact and can be returned to OE condition.

Just ordered the harness, thanks for the thought on that. Already installed lights in bumper. Hard part done, waiting on wiring now
