How to work safely under Tacoma?

I recently acquired some after market skids and would like to install these. I wondered what I need to work safely under the truck to install these. I’m looking for cheap options as I don’t intend to do much further work.

 

I have the best option.

Just park it on flat ground.

The truck is plenty high to install skid plates.

 

None. most can be done without having to raise the truck.

 

If you feel the need to get some more room, get some ramps to drive up on

 

Yep, wheels on flat, level ground with P-brake on.

Or on 4 jack stands, each with a 3 ton rating.

 

Safety glasses.

 

Safety glasses so you don’t get dirt in your eyes and a pad / blanket on the ground so your ass don’t hurt at the end of the install !

 

Leave it on the ground -100x safer.
Safety glasses, gloves for sure, and a creeper is nice too.

 

Second glasses and maybe put a reflective belt on.

 

If you use jack stands, don’t use Harbor Freight ones.

 

Nobody is safe without one.

Leave it on ground + a creeper? Make sure you trim your nose hairs or you'll get them stuck, lol

 

Not recommended but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do

Jack stands if you need to raise it.
I know someone mentioned ramps just make sure they are in good shape and quality and dont use on a slope. One of my old neighbors was killed when one of his collapsed with is 70 Maverick on them.

 

Pay the kid 20 bucks to do it for you. If you have 2 kids, well at least you have a backup in case shit goes south.
