Just got wheel alignment done been a little parinoid about knocking it off will decent potholes knock it off or does it take a lot just wondering how tough are alignments.

Buy a paint pen and draw a line on each adjuster. Then you’ll know if you knock it out. And if you do, easy to move back.

Potholes will not. There are some pretty serious parts holding everything together.
However, all those parts are wearing, more so when it’s driven on less than ideal roads. Worn parts cause the alignment to be out and that wears tires funny. That’s why you should avoid potholes.

The less things you hit, the longer it'll last. Parking stops and potholes are worth avoiding.

Curbs too, the hood is so long can't tell how far forward to go before I need to turn the wheel when leaving home depot.

It's quite possible for any considerable jolt to knock the steering out of alignment. An alignment can last more than a year or even just a few minutes. There are so many possible variables one can never know how long it may be before the next alignment is needed. For the most part these trucks are fairly rugged so an alignment should last awhile but if you hit a curb while leaving the tire shop .... You might possibly need another alignment.

Second gen. 136,000 miles one alignment... when they changed my frame. I don't offroad but I do use it as a truck. Towing 4000+# and max payload occasionally. Drove straight with even wear before and after frame swap. I assume 3rd gens are built to the same exacting standards as the 2nd gens. So relax and drive it like you stole it!

The truck is built for some pretty serious off roading which obviously involves lots of pounding on the suspension. It's pretty robust. Much stronger than a passenger car which uses chopsticks for linkages...

I hit stuff very hard every day. Haven't had an alignment done in quite a while.

Only thing I've changed in the alignment stuff is total chaos cam tabs because the tin foil tabs that come with the truck are junk.

On 285s 1.5 inch 5100s, can confirm a pothole will knock it off. Was going 15-20 around a sharp corner, pothole was filled with water and now steering wherl is off 90 deg from before.

Are you serious with this ?? Or are you kidding ?? Adjustments do not move when hitting a bump or pot holes as long as the adjusters are TIGHT TIGHT KEY WORD LOL, which they BETTER be. Alignments go out when hitting a large bump or large pot holes at a higher speeds. This will shift suspension points and OR bend parts as well. I have been doing alignments for many many years. Just asking is all.

I am serious. Driving on the road they shouldn't move but they absolutely can while offroad. I've done it so many times that I put a tack weld on my adjusters so they won't move.

I also replied to the comment from earlier today before realizing what the thread was about since it's old and I was still waking up. I've never knocked my alignment out on paved roads and it would be difficult to do so. The paint pen is still a valid suggestion though if knocking the alignment out is ever a concern.

    Offroad is a different animal.

NOT to beat this to death, but if the eccentric BOLTS are tight and I mean tight, I have never seen one move. just my opinion. I have seen eccentric bolts that are very tight but the area's around this bolt is filled with rust preventing it to really lock down snug.
