I usually use mine on low when the temps are in the 40s. When it's really cold out, I put it on medium. High is way too hot for me.

This is an interesting thread. I just installed leather in my 2016 and discovered when I removed the covers that the heater pads were installed upside down. That probably explains the "surface of the sun" comments. Now that mine are flipped the correct way they are not so hot. Of course the leather is thicker and warms up slower as well.

Yes, mine were installed upside down as well. I flipped them when I installed my leather. I still find the third setting way too hot.

On high, mine are like laying on a tanning bed while being sunburnt.

Wow guys. All interesting. Installing the heating pads upside down...WTF? What happened to quality control??

You all have certainly convinced me that ours are not working properly - and probably not at all as we never detect any heat.

Since the truck is only a few weeks old and obviously everything is warrantied at this point, I'm not even going to look for a bad connection, etc. She's going into the Service Department. It's clearly on them to fix it.

Yup, sounds like a real problem with yours. Like others have said, mine get toasty. I set mine at one and the wife starts at 3 but lowers hers to setting 2 fairly quickly. When she is not with me I set her seat to 3 to keep my burrito nice and warm!

i keep mine on medium almost always, a few times i've dropped it down to low. High is very hot but useful if you have thicker clothes on. Ive noticed more heat comes through on the lower back than on the bottom.

My seats were assembled in Mexico even though it's a Texas truck.

I've never used 1, 2 is my riding around setting (live here in Maine) and I only use 3 if I've been outside for a while, and my fruitbasket has 1/2" of ice built on them, and need a quick defrost. Can only stand setting 3 for about 5 minutes before going to 2, as fear of 3rd degree burns on the Ol brown eye. When your ass has to wipe its own brow, you know your heated seats are working.

    I say yours are defective.

i have cloth heated seats. level 1 is more than sufficient and quick to warm up. level 2 is even faster and after a few minutes even with a coat and jeans on can get uncomfortable. I never use level 3.

leather would be different and will take longer to heat and will not heat to as high a temp on the seating surface. atleast that's my experience in the wife's highlander. maxxed out i can barely feel them being warm.

in my 17 the #1 setting is barely warm enough to notice, #2 is comfortably warm, #3 is hot. Unlike most here I use mine on setting #3 every time I drive regardless of outside temps. I have lower back issues and the heat really helps.
