Got a DC Tacoma when i had my newborn daughter (rear facing) along with my 5 year old son (front facing). They are now 5 and 10.

Space has never been an issue for them or us in the front seats, but this may be because both me and my wife are short (im 5’5” and shes shorter). If you are tall, putting a rear facing car seat behind you seat may be tight or not even possible.

Somw car seats fit better than others. Really you need to test fit and see what is best for you.

We also have a 4runner and i see almost zero difference in rear seat space in the 4R as we have in the Tacoma. The tundra on the other hand is definitely bigger, but wouldnt be my choice if I was moving to a full size truck.

Love them. We have a set in my truck and my wife’s car. They’re solid, easy to install, and easy to take apart to clean. Only con is they are heavy. The angle adjuster pad makes them fit way better when rear facing in the Tacoma.

I just bought a seat called the MiFold. It's a little gimmicky but it saves a ton of room for my older kid.

Wife and I, a 7 year old and 3 year old. Get carseats that are low profile. You'll definitely need a topper or cover for their stuff. We love it. Haul their bikes, hockey gear with no smells, and plenty of camping gear. We've had many long drives in our 06. It's luxurious, but the 3rd gen is compared to mine. It's doable for sure. We have a softopper so I can easily fold it down when hauling tall items.

The kids will eventually outgrow the bulky car seats and you can get a smaller booster seat that hardly takes up any room.

I have 4 yr old twins and both are in front facing car seats. I'm 5'10 and they have enough room in the back. I also drive a manual so I do sit a little closer than I would if I drove an automatic.

I have both a 9 year old and a 2 year old. My 9 year old is about 4' 8" and she fits pretty nice behind me on the driver's side with how I have my seat adjusted (I'm 5' 10"). My 2 year old is on the passengers side in a forward facing seat and can put her feet flush on the back of the front seat, but still has plenty of room for her legs. I like having my front seats at the same adjustment for looks, so it's about the same as the driver's side.
With that all said, I have to agree with some of the people here and suggest that you invest in one of those $10 seat protector cover things. They are sort of inconspicuous, and really help out with a raging toddler. Also, at least when searching for a forward facing seat, try to buy one that is on the slimmer, smaller side. My wife's '18 4Runner has one of those big, luxurious car seats in it and the kid would have almost no room in my truck if I had it. I have one of those Graco ones that you can get for like, $70, and my daughter actually prefers how that one sits compared to my wife.

I'm 5'8" with seat adjusted appropriately, My son fit fine in the middle of the back seat in his forward facing Britax and later booster seat. One thing to note about the bulkier seats in the center position is that the Taco obviously isn't as wide as fullsize or minivans and it's pretty cramped when 2 other people need to go in the back seat.

Why not buy the car seat you are going to use now, and then go try it out at the dealer when you are looking?

I’m 6’3” wife is 6’1”...I often wish we had a full size when on a road trip with the 2 kids in the back, but only while on the long hauls. All other times, I thank God it’s a taco.

I'm 6'2" and have a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old. It's a little tight but not bad. It has much more room than my wife's Jeep. I was happy though when my son's seat changed from rear facing to front facing.

The one issue I have with a rear facing child seat in the middle seat is the clearance to the ceiling for actually putting a baby into the seats seems incredibly low.

    Has anyone else noticed this?
