2005 gen 2 double cab, tow package, 6500lb tow limit.

3500lb 20ft ski boat. Holds 42gal of gas plus the weight of gear.

I know I'll be under 6500lbs but how well will it tow?

I tow my 18ft Lund (approx 2500 lbs with gas and gear) very nicely and I was just wondering if towing the other boat was realistic and safe.

    Thanks

You'll have no problem. If it feels heavy keep it in 4th rather than D.

Assuming your boat trailer has working brakes then you should be fine the problem is not towing it's stopping and steering and boats are an easy pull as long as brakes are working properly. Oh and 4th is a given never tow in overdrive.

I tow a 22' sailboat, weighs 3200 lbs. Trailer is another 1200 lbs. Was towing with a 2010 Access Cab Sport m6. Just traded it for a 2015 access sport m6.

Last May I towed the boat from here in middle Georgia to the Fla Keys and back, about 700 miles one way. No problems, but as Bubba bud says, towing capability is more about stopping ability. My trailer has hydraulic surge brakes which are marginally OK. Electric brakes would be better. Obviously gas mileage sucks towing that much weight - 10 mpg.

Sounds like I will be good. My Lund trailer doesn't have breaks and still tows great but if I bought the second boat I would make sure it had breaks on the trailer. I just didn't want to upgrade my truck until I looked into buying a 5th wheel sometime down the road.

Here's what I tow. I can cruise at about 60. It really depends on the hills though. It works fine.
