You need to check you state's laws. Here in AZ, the buyer must show proper AZ ID. The seller is not required to keep any paper trails.
Selling outside of the state, you need to send the gun to the buyer's FFL of choice in their state.

OK, Not that I would wanna try this but would this be possible, Say I knew someone that lives in AZ for example, If I worked for an airline and flew for free could I fly to AZ give the AZ resident the money to buy the rifle of my choice then go to the airport and fly home with the gun, Would that work???

No, that would be a "straw purchase". A "straw purchase" is getting someone else to buy a gun for you.

You could fly to AZ, buy the gun that you like (as long as it is legal in your state), and have it shipped to a FFL in your state. It'll be waiting for you when you get back.

Correct, though there was never any reason to fly there unless you just want to look at it in person first.

Lets see.... Here in Cali, all gun sales must go through an FFL. Both parties must be California residents. They must both show up at the FFL at the same time. The buyer needs to fill out all the same forms as though he was buying a brand new gun. He must pass a background check, pay the state fees and the transfer fees, and wait ten days. Cost is usually about $75.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
you can sell ftf to a Ga resident, with proof of id and bill of sale. I ask for proof of concealed carry license and document it.
You can search the interweb for gun bill of sale and fill it in yourself.
If you're selling to a party outside the state, it requires a transfer to an ffl.

Not to start crap or anything, but this is an example of what makes the rest of us law abiding gun owners look bad. Back door deals and illegal transfer of firearms gives us all a bad wrap. Have him spend a couple bucks and do it right. Follow the law so the law has one less reason to come after us. My folks ship firearms to me all the time from KY. UPS to my FFL. No problems. If he gets caught, he is looking at some serious trouble, which he DESERVES!

D-bags skirting the law make it harder for honest transactions to be carried out.
Gives energy to anti's that want guns gone.
    I hate this crap.

I agree totally, he has this thing about not having any records of his firearms, he had some domestic abuse problems in the past and all his registered firearms got taken away. He still wants guns so he does it this way now.

He's playing with fire... as of August 1st, all airlines are screening 100% cargo now. If they see a firearm, they may open it up and find a .308 pellet gun. That's not only the FAA, but all flights into Hawaii are IATA as well. So you're looking at Federal charges as well as International charges. There are are FedEx guys on here that may tip off your buddy...

I hope the guy doing the purchasing realizes what he's doing. He could get screwed worse if caught.
