Here’s the scenario: you work in downtown in a lawless west coast city which is hit by an earthquake. You live an hour away in the suburbs and you need to get back home. You’ve been packing a backpack of supplies for this situation. Your taco was taco’d in the parking garage where you park for work, so you have to find another way home. You can expect that the worst of society will use this as an opportunity to prey on others, the likelihood for self defense is high.

All utilities are out. Roads are severed. It’s 12 noon. You have 24 hours to make it home. You were not injured during the earthquake but there are some aftershocks. You have no one traveling with you.

what did you pack in your bag and what is the plan you made that you will now execute?

    go!

    I’ll play.

    I’m stripping down buck naked.
Taking a big shit in the back pack.
Then I’m starting the long walk home.

Should anyone want steal my backpack and it’s content, so be it.
Then they’ll really know I’m “crazy”.

If there’s one thing people don’t mess with, it’s a crazy person running around naked.

    Happy Friday…………..

An hour drive from a downtown west coast city to the suburbs is probably about 15-30 miles. I’m onboard with the naked man approach. Assuming you’re in decent shape and aren’t injured walking that distance isn’t difficult. Being naked alleviates anyone wanting to steal what you have other than your shoes and I don’t think shoes will be on the priority list on day one of a disaster.

I’d go down to the Winchester, have a pint, and wait for it all to blow over.

I have a feeling the OP is one of those with a Black Rifle Coffee decal, a glock with the latest ZEV goodies, a shot up target from the range hanging in the garage, and shops exclusively at 5.11 :burp:

I usually keep a fresh supply of memes on me at all times, that and 3/4 a bag of cheese puffs. I'll trade the memes for something useful and start walking.

It seems to me that in a situation like the one you describe that keeping a low profile and moving quickly would probably do the trick. The naked thing might work too.

Join in the masses and hope for the best. Everyone will be trying to get out. Disaster hits; refugees flee. I’m an expert. I watch the news and the History Channel whenever my wife isn’t home. I’m also an expert on the Kardashians because she always comes home eventually.
